Tranny problem. Maybe??????

Tranny problem. Maybe??????
When driving in Sport Mode at regular speeds it shifts thru all 8 gears OKAY (A8).....But from any gear when I want to pass or whatever somebody and go in to passing gear it shifts down Okay,but stays in that gear and when I look down it has gone into Manual mode and I have to use the paddles......Is this Normal???

Yep, normal. When you have the A8 in sort mode the car thinks you wanna race. So, it holds the gears longer. However, I've haven't ever noticed it going into manual unless I tap one of the paddles. But, honestly the traffic in my area makes it hard to find myself into the situation you described. So, that may be normal also.

If I read your post right, you manually shift down to pass?
It looks like it goes into M (the display shows this), but if you don't touch the paddles, it will go back into D after a short bit.
It will only stay in M if you physically put the shifter there.
