Default Wild Vettes

I am thinking of getting some jacking pucks. They are usually in the 40-60 dollar range. I saw some on a site labeled WILD VETTES. They're only $26. Anyone done business with this outfit?

Or make your own for a couple of dollars with hockey pucks and eye bolts.

They work fine. Sturdy and they do what you need them to do. Highly recommend.

If you're too busy, then $26 is a good price.
I made two sets from hockey pucks and stainless eye bolts from Home Depot, one set for the garage and one set for the trunk cubby.
Hint- drill the hole for the eye bolt slightly undersize, then let the eye bolt cut its own threads in the puck as you screw it in. They'll stay tight and you can screw it in our out to get a good fit up against the frame.
Another Hint- Find a reminder flag or something so you won't drive away with removable pucks still in place, regardless of which brand. If one falls out, you'll lose it and could damage the tire.

Something to think about. If you now have or will be installing some side skirts depending on your jacking situation you might want to consider extra tall jacking pucks. I have a lift at home and had the regular size pucks such as the hockey pucks that I used when lifting my Vette. I recently installed side skirts on the car and now the hockey puck size does not allow enough clearance on the lift that I am comfortable with. So I purchased the extra high lift pucks.

I've seen a similar problem on some lifts where the "arms" are a bit too flexible and bend downward under the weight of the car.

My solution was 4 additional pucks with some stickyback Velcro to attach them to the pucks with the eye bolt.

Either way, keep a close on the car and lift as it's being raised.

I don't know what 'side skirts' are. I have a Z51 LT3 2015. So, I am going to guess that the 'regular' ones will suffice? I won't need the double high??

The "side skirts" are part of the OEM aero package available on the GS or Z06, or as aftermarket. Can also be installed on base/Z51 cars.

Since I don't like to mess with the aerodynamics of my car, and don't think they look particularly good, I haven't added them.
But many posters say they greatly reduce or eliminate the stone chips on the rocker panels and just behind the doors. I've got the GM splash guards on our Z51, they help a lot but not completely. I've also got XPel clear wrap in that area, no chips in the paint but may want to replace the XPel after about 50k miles.

OK, it would appear that............
1. Buying/Using the 'regular' "pucks" will be fine. I don't need the double high ones.
2. I have Xpel also???? It needs to be replaced?
3. On a related note about Xpel......is there something I should be using on it to make it last..... a spray or other application???

Regular jacking pucks should be fine, unless someone uses one of those center-post lifts with four arms as mentioned in post #8.

The factory clear film behind your doors is a GM product and not XPel. With just the small factory splash guards, it will quickly get chewed up and look crummy, eventually the paint will be damaged. With the GM accessory guards, slightly larger, it will last longer but should still be checked from time to time and eventually needs replacement. GM probably sells their film as a separate part but most everyone gets the aftermarket XPel brand or similar. The installer will try to persuade you to do other areas of the car, that may or may not be something you want to do and pay for. Lots of threads discussing that. I've got it on the bumper/hood/rockers/rear spoiler (luggage danger) and it's good but not perfect. Expensive.

Lots of discussion about how to preserve XPel, the company suggests products with less than 10% (?) petroleum distillates to avoid yellowing but many people use whatever wax they like and have no problems. XPel makes a bug cleaner that I do like, but their sealant (wax) does no impress me.

Enjoy the car!

I have Wildvette pucks and have never had a problem. The us a normal I bolt embedded in a resin puck. They are basic pucks, much like homemade. I also have CF side skirts and I don't have any problems lifting the car. I use them with low profile jacks and also a QuickJack 5000SLX.

I’m still around paying my $300 a month for forum status 😂. I have just been busy with school so I haven’t been posting much. What I can say about mine versus other solutions is they are a 90 grade industrial polyurethane you couldn’t easily replicate. Other solutions that use abs plastic are going to be a lot less durable. I’m personally not a fan of the aluminum pucks because they cost more and they scratch the frame all up. We’ve sold a little over 3000 units and only ever had one reported failure and I believe that to be an issue in how it was being used and the damage to the rocker was very minimal compared to what it would have been if they had say a 2x4 fall off the jack. Either way I am hoping to be a lot more active on the forum this year as I am in limbo waiting to get into school. Thanks for the kind words from all.

I have been using a set for 4 years with absolutely no problems. I have a 2014 Z51 with aftermarket Z06 style side skirts and I have plenty of clearance with my jacks and my QuickJack. As I remember, shipping was very fast.
