Is the GM tire and wheel package always offered by third party such as Maximus? Or is there one by GM? Seems like the one from Maximus has legit and honorable coverage.
Does anyone know how the protection plan is treated if you put Michelin all season tires on that did not come with the car? I.e if I buy the tire/wheel package and swap the super sports with all season tires, am I still covered?
also, can you purchase this coverage from another Chevrolet dealer other than the one you purchased the car from?
thanks!
My tire, wheel and windshield protection is with Vantage. It cost $1200.00 for five years. I’ve had three claims, all for flat tires, all were replaced. One at a dealer the others at Mavis Tire. It covers the tires on the car whether they’re OEM or all seasons. I bought my insurance when I bought the car. Peace of mind...our tires run about 400 bucks a pop. My insurance has already paid for itself.
It's not just about wheels. Mine's (also Maximus) paid for itself in the first year with 2 tire punctures in the outer tread blocks, considered not repairable, and tires replaced free of charge.
I do have a 2nd set of tires/wheels, which I switch between winter and summer. In both cases, I had a ready spare, and simply took the flat tire to the dealer to be replaced.
That's a good point. I have the tire protection at Discount and that has served me well. I have had to have three tires replaced and didn't cost me a dime.
