Default Tire/Wheel Package

Looks like I'm getting a new GS in February. The Tire/Wheel Package is $1000.00. How does it work? I assume its good for any dealer you happen to be at not just the selling dealer. I am concerned about all these bent rims I keep hearing about. Any thoughts?

You get an extra set of tire/wheels(assembled) sent to dealer. I'm guessing thats 1000 per, not total...

What are you talking about? It's an insurance policy.

YES!
I would buy it in a heartbeat!
Because of all my issues, GM bought us the wheel and tire insurance when my car was 12 weeks old. I’ve used it 3 times and it went fairly seamlessly. I had more issues with the dealership not knowing how to file the claim more than anything.
If you want to see if it’s the same company you can PM me and I will share the info.

Then say so. All you said was "tire wheel package." Insurance normally does not come in packages. No wonder someone misunderstood

The correct term is “tire and wheel protection” I’m not sure if they use different companies. I didn’t choose mine at the dealership...GM chose mine and paid for it.

I just picked up my GS from the dealer 200 miles away last week. I was 25 miles from home when the low pressure warning came on. Can someone please PM me the name of the insurance companies mentioned here.

Also, has anyone used GMPartsGiant.Com to order parts? Easy or hassle to deal with?

I think I would just get my own set of reliable wheels to begin with and just eat the cost of the stock wheels. It isn't just the money and insurance paying when needed. It is the inconvenience for me. Something to consider though. The car was a bargain anyway. Buy a good set and be done with the worry.

My Tire Protection Policy was offered to me at the time I picked up my Z06 at the dealer. He should have offered you a plan at that time.
The Plan I have is from Maximus Auto Group.
PS- Did you check to see if you are just low on air?

It's not just about wheels. Mine's (also Maximus) paid for itself in the first year with 2 tire punctures in the outer tread blocks, considered not repairable, and tires replaced free of charge.

I do have a 2nd set of tires/wheels, which I switch between winter and summer. In both cases, I had a ready spare, and simply took the flat tire to the dealer to be replaced.

just another aftermarket insurance policy -- NOT from GM, so prices, performance, and which dealers will honor it can vary wildly depending on which aftermarket company your particular dealer uses.

Is the GM tire and wheel package always offered by third party such as Maximus? Or is there one by GM? Seems like the one from Maximus has legit and honorable coverage.

Does anyone know how the protection plan is treated if you put Michelin all season tires on that did not come with the car? I.e if I buy the tire/wheel package and swap the super sports with all season tires, am I still covered?

also, can you purchase this coverage from another Chevrolet dealer other than the one you purchased the car from?

thanks!

Maximus is a standalone tire protection plan.. Has nothing to do with GM. It was offered to me from the dealer were I purchased my Z06
The Maximus plan covers it all. For any tire and wheel you have on your Vette not just the Michelin's the way I understand it.
There is one by GM as well.
All dealers offer different companies and coverage's. You can call other dealer but the dealer that is selling you the car will give you the best price.

Bought this as well. $399.

Figured for the price of one tire, why not? The wheels are rotten on these cars and the Michelins pick up anything remotely sharp.

They are like a heroin addict looking for a syringe.

How did you get GM to cover this? Bent wheel issues? Customer satisfaction? Mary Barra out on a date?
