Order number - how long to get?
Can anybody tell me how long it should take for a dealer to be able to provide me with an order number once they say they have placed the order with GM?

When the order is entered into the computer GM gives it the order number and the car goes to code 1100. If the dealer has an allocation for a car they will pick up the order. GM has been picking up orders for sold cars without dealer allocations almost every order cycle.

Unfortunately, the order process in Canada is different form what most of us are used to in the U.S.

You still get an order # when you place your order and put down a deposit in Canada..The # is in the same format as in the USA. RWFVJ13 was the # when I ordered my 15. You should get a sheet that is titled Preliminary Order Detail. It will show your name, etc. and a list of all the options you chose and show the current event as 1100, preliminary order.

No difference actually in terms of the production code numbers. What IS different is that U.S. dealers do not have access to information on where Canadian orders are in the process.

Allocation to the dealer is the big thing. If he is a high volume seller of Corvettes then the number should come up reasonably quick. I purchased from a high volume dealer and the day I placed my order it went to 3000 (plant accepted for production), 5 days later it went 3300 (scheduled for production).

By the way, back in the day I used to live in Sidney, beautiful place and miss my friends from there! I lived on Weiler Avenue if you are familiar with it.

Your new car should progress through the stages quickly as orders seem to have slowed down. No more 5 or 6 month waits.
What did you order?

I ordered a Torch Red 2LT with a Z51 spoiler, black double stripe, red calipers and NPP exhaust in a manual. I can't wait any longer and it has only been a week
What is yours?

A lot of changes here. You would barely recognize the town or the whole area down to Victoria.
