Dennis - just to clarify - are you saying that maintenance items have to be done by a dealer/repair shop or can the owner do such things as he/she is perfectly capable of and just have receipts/document when the maintenance was done. It's not a question of whether maintenance items are not covered under an extended warranty; it's more the fact that the warranty requires them to be done according to the schedule listed in the owner's manual and if what JohnnyDee states that an owner is precluded from doing the work, then that is a big concern, at least for me.
I do my own oil changes and perhaps other things that I feel I am capable of so I have no need for a dealer to do them.

Would this cover items like the magnetic ride control shocks & controller?
What about if the vehicle is set to a slightly shorter ride height due to the lowering bolts?
How does it cover failure of one item causing another to fail ex: Bearing failure causes engine to grenade?

As for your failed bearing example, the entire grenaded engine is what will be claimed on the warranty, regardless of the actual cause. If the actual cause happens to be a failed bearing, so be it. Obviously, that's only if they can't prove the cause of the bearing failure wasn't your negligence - sludgy oil, wrong oil, no oil, performance increase - and they will certainly try . Keep receipts of all maintenance, especially engine oil changes.

Was going to call about the GMEPP from Dennis here but, no more allowed sales in California?
What are our options? I am getting a used 2017 Grand Sport M7 with 14.7k on the clock. En route as we speak.

Dennis - any clarification on posts #16 and #21? I’d really like to know if doing my own maintenance is OK or if I have to take it to a dealer/repair shop in all cases. Thanks.

While I enjoy the car, and trust GM's OHV architecture, what I don't trust are the things attached to it. Sensors, screens, and the other various electrical components I have no control over if they fail. So I think the inherent risk of a malfunction in the car is somewhat high, and I consider this policy a mitigation of that risk. To me, what I paid for peace of mind is also a great intangible benefit.
I'm past modding cars at this stage in my life (if it sounds good I'm done) so it doesn't bother me to agree not to do that.
Today I got what I consider to be a pretty fair deal for another 5 years of protection on those electrical components. One or two failures and the warranty is paid for.

I think items like oil changes and the scheduled maintenance items that pop up on the DIC are what we have in mind rather than carpet and seat coverings.
For instance, must ALL engine oil changes be done by a GM dealer or 'authorized repair shop' to keep the warranty in force?

My only comment is, price shopped extended warranties with Ally, Hendrick and a third that I can't remember their name. Through Fichtner I got the extended GMEPP for the same price as the lowest among the other 3. GMEPP offered the best coverage and it's through the GM dealer so there's no middleman I have to contact.

I bought one last year...platinum with 0 deductible. Already used it once for a bizarre radio issue. So...that covered half the cost of it so far. And I bought when I was already OUTSIDE my factory B2B which cost me more. I like the peace of mind. Next claim will no doubt pay for itself.
Also nice to know the mag ride system is covered too. My car has behaved pretty well tho.

I posted this earlier by accident to the C6 group, sorry here's another try.I'd just like to say Dennis is really a good source to get a GMEPP plan, he's very personable, the price is right and the process is dead easy. Counting the 84 month 100k plan I just bought from Dennis for my 17 Z51, I've now bought 3 plans from the Fichtners spread out over the decades for 2 C5's and now a C7. You can't beat their prices or the setup. The other two plans paid for themselves, as I expect this one probably will as well although I guess I'd rather it didn't as that would mean future time in the shop :-). The pleasure was all mine, thank you for the repeat business, it means a lot to me
Well February is over and what a great month, March is going to be even better so keep the emails coming to dfichtner@dennymenholt.com with VIN, miles, date of purchase and state of residence. We are buried in snow and bitter cold so hoping by June I can get my car out of the garage(if I can find my house). Yes we have that much snow.
You can also check out our plans at www.dennymenholtprotectionplans.com !!!
