Comfortable C7 ride
#21
Wow !!! all you guys are unbelievable your advice is just what I've been looking for. Thanks so much. Like I said earlier my wife and I are looking for creature comforts at this point in our life. I'm a former Harley-Davidson Dealer, sold out and retired a couple of years ago and no longer wish to ride across country, to Sturgis, etc. with wind and rain in our face. Almost always had a Vette since my teenage years but never did the touring and cross country rides, was always jealous when a Vette would pass us on our Harley's in the wind and rain and wishing that was us. My wife rides her own bike and we have been across country and back more than a few times. But now we want to do it in a Corvette, especially Route 66, have never done that trip on our Harley's. Anyway, thanks all for listening and your advice about the Z51 option, defnitely want the 2LT or 3LT option, just not sure about the Z51 option but we sure do like the 2014 limited edition green Vette # 296 of 550. Real quickly, my first Vette was a 1968 Green convertible, tan interior I purchased used in 1970, still have pictures. My all time favorite is a 1967, those were the days. Please excuse my senior moment. LOL.
Thanks again
Thanks again

C7 Base is the best of both worlds for speed and comfort. Change the runflats for more comfort.

I recently had the MRC update installed on a 15 Z51. Very noticeable improvement in ride comfort.
Highly recommend the update if you do go down the Z51/MRC route. I think your wife will be comfy.

I was going to buy a CTS-V so I spent 6 hours in the seat. I just didn;t like the seats so I went to the vette and another day I spent 4 hours in it. I liked the seating config better so I bought it. I only drove both cars for a bout 25 minutes and the other time I just sat in them to get a feel how it would be while stuck in traffic. I thought the best ride came from a 2017 Z51, with the larger bilsteins, compared to the base 15 and 19 or the 14 Z51 MRC car that I bought. I now wished I had stiffer springs as the Z51 springs are so soft that i feel like the car floats too much. I daily drive mine and I know that ride is subjective but I also know that my 2 other cars with coils ride a lot stiffer and passengers have commented on that also. I would just say to spend time in the car to see if you like it and if your sales guy gives you ****, just tell him to come back in a few hours. lol Good luck.

I have a 2014 premier edition coupe. Purchased with 98 miles on the clock over 3 years ago. Did the mag ride update and PS3 non run flats. Love the ride choices. Driven over 25k miles. Only issue is petite wife struggles to get comfortable in the seat.

I have a 2014 2LT Stingray and to me the ride is very comfortable. I do not have the mag ride on the car, but I understand that it is a nice option to have when it comes to the ride.

Oh crap. Don't tell me the GS with MRC rides good. I want one already and if I find out the ride is not bad or even reasonably comfortable that is going to be bad for me. I have been trying to tell myself the GS rides like a log wagon.

I've done a few long trips in my Z51 with MSRC. Its a very comfortable ride in Tour mode. My X5 rides harsher LOL.
Lime rock green is a beautiful color.

The word "Comfortable" is subjective.
For me,the base was not comfortable because it was a little too "soft" for my liking .The Z51 pkg w/o MRC was just right.

Had a 16 base stingray with no MRC or Z51 and it rode pretty darn good. Now have a 17 GS and much prefer the 16 base ride, seemed more nimble without the stiff suspension and huge tires. Good luck with whatever you get

I had a C6 Z51 and a C7 Z71 without MRC. In the eastern part of the state (we're an hour in from Myrtle Beach) our roads are lt and reasonably good. most of my rough roads are over RR tracks!
When I got my Grand Sport had to drive in Touring to get about the ride I had wit my none MRC Z51. In Sport it was stiffer. After I got the MRC update I ride in Sport and it's about the same as my none MRC Z51. Granted that is not as soft a ride a the base suspension. I like the nannie control and throttle response in Sport and when driving and need to steer around an 18 wheeler tire tread or squirrel it's definitely better!

I feel your pain my friend, so I'll try to help. My GS rides like a two horse wagon, drives like an 8N Ford tractor. So, best stay away or your hemorrhoids will attack with a vengeance. I can't understand why anyone would want to drive one of those things.

Seriously consider the Michelin all season run flats over the non run flats given your age and that you want to go touring. The very minor comfort improvement of the non run flats is not worth it if you get a flat tire in the middle of nowhere at night when it’s raining and cold. With run flats you can drive to the nearest shop or hotel. You used to tour on a motorcycle. So did I. You must know how miserable breakdowns can be on a bike and I’m sure you’d want to minimize that risk in a Corvette. I did experience a tire puncture in one of my run flats, glad I have them.

Has already been mentioned in this thread, but also second the ideas of:
Base Model
2LT - these goodies do make a big difference
Michelin AS/3+ ZP Tires, even if you have to swap/sell the PSS's
MRC (with upgrade package applicable to the first several years of C7;; '19's and maybe 18's come with 'upgrade built in')
And Don't Forget - NPP!
