Sometimes the forums tend to attract the negative, so after my recent experiences I just wanted to take a moment to sing the praises of the C7 corvette. Just to set the stage, I owned 3 C6 base cars before my 2016 Z51 A8. This car is far and away the best of the 4, but back to my point....Within the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to pit the C7 against a Challenger Hellcat on a very tight police training course, the same Hellcat on a 2.5 mile road course, a SRT Challenger Hemi on the big road coarse, and a brand new police package Hemi Charger. To keep this as short as possible, let me just say this car is nothing short of impressive against what some would think are superior cars (at least one of them.) With all of the negative info out there about the A8, I’ll make a plug for it also. The thing performs amazingly on the road course. It upshifts, downshifts, and holds gear much better than I could if shifting manually. Yes the torque converter has had some issues, but so far my fix is holding. If some of you guys haven’t tracked your car yet, find a chance to do so. You will fall in love all over again. There are certainly more muscular cars, louder cars, and even nimbler cars out there, but this is one well-rounded sports car. Hail to the C7 corvette!

Sorry, I did not hear what issues he had with his T.C or A 8 tranny.
Thanks
Rich K ( Vette Ski )
I had the TC shudder issue. Local dealership addressed it with the flush and new fluid. So far so good. To me, the A8 performs flawlessly on and off the track. The shudder in the TC is still a concern, but I won’t hesitate to take the car back in if it comes back.

Glad to hear they corrected the problem, I also have the A 8 but in a G.S
Good luck and thank you,

As far as straight line acceleration is concerned, the hellcat would crush the stingray. On a track with curves though, the vette has the advantage because of less weight and better balance. I do agree the C7 is a great car and a lot of fun to drive.

For the most part I completely agree, but I bettered his 0 to 60 time on an unprepared surface. Now at the drag strip, I do believe the Stingray would be a sitting duck. That beast just has a hard time putting the power down on normal pavement.
It is nice to read about people that enjoy the C7 which is such a great car. Too many trolls on this forum that are either jealous, stupid or flat out mean spirited. I adore my Z06 M7 rag top, the best car I have owned to date and a thrill to drive.

There was a you tube that showed a base C7 beating a hellcat in the 1/4 mile, but if the race had gone another 100 feet the hellcat would have won as it was coming real fast. The dodge just has so much weight at the start the Vette has big lead at the start but once the dodge hooked up it was rolling and nearly won. on the road courses the dodges have to much weight to hang with the Vette Dont ask me to post the you tube I dont know how to do that

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
