Most around here complain the exhaust is too quiet. If you have the performance exhaust then switching between Eco and Touring mode will change the sound.
Is this something that suddenly happened? Like quiet one day then loud the next? If the exhaust valves failed (for any number of reasons) then I believe the default position is open which would be similar to putting it in Track mode. Are any fuses blown? This link has tons of info on the performance exhaust system and what the fuses do: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ck-result.html
If you have the npp exhaust you have a setting you can bring up the sound level desired from staelth to track mode check the owners manual to see how to do it

If you bought it used, the prior owner may have overridden the sound level in touring. It is not hard to do, dig around, there is a basic setting someplace.
You can also tweak the steering stiffness too if I don't have my cars confused. I'm old and have too many.
Exhaust system seems excessively loud - has 17,000 miles. Is this normal? Was told that changing from E to T etc would change the noise level. True?
.
check to make sure number 41 /42 fuses are in place. If you bought used previous owner may have did this simple mod. You can also do a search here or use link below to a video..not mine
I have a 2014 with NPP. There is no difference in the exhaust note when changing from E to T on my C7. However, there is a noticeable difference when changing from T (Tour) to S (Sport).
Here is a chart from the owners manual from my 2014 Stingray with NPP. Note that you can override these changes by choosing to keep the exhaust in a particular mode by going into the settings found on the infotainment screen. There are lots of choices in there. I found when I first got the car that the best way to go through them was sitting in the driveway with the engine running and fiddling with the selections.
Looking at that chart again I see that there is a difference from Eco to Tour, although in my car I do not notice it. The difference going from Tour to Sport or Track is dramatic, though.
Also, I forgot to mention it in the previous post - Congratulations!
Did you buy it from a Chevrolet dealer? If so, go back to them with the car to learn about what you have bought, and possibly coaching on the car's settings. . They can also run the car's onboard computer OBC, and GMVIS reports on the car's history for you. It (should) detect modifying the electronic system may have underwent - if any...

The 2014 doesn't have a stealth option. That came later.
If you have NPP option, the quietest option is to slave (link) it to drive mode and drive in Tour.
The prior owner may have replaced the X pipe so it may be louder than stock.... The first thing I did was pull the fuse and replace the X pipe, makes it sound so nice
mine sounded like a chevy impala til I yanked it off and put hesders, xpipe, catless and B&B exhaust on.You think yours is loud. When i'm at WOT it will hurt
ears.
Great thread, lots of informed discussion. Am hoping one of you knowledgeable folks can shed some light for me.
Took me awhile to find the source of a rather concerning, loud metallic “clanging”, but I finally observed my NPP valves rhythmically slamming shut, opening, and slamming shut, more or less at 1 cps. Happens intermittently, first noticed at startup but has happened while driving (probably below 35mph only, but not 100% sure on that). Typically stops on its own accord after 10-15 cycles. Sometimes changing exhaust mode correlates to it stopping, but that doesn’t always stop it.
Car is 2016 Z51 with mag suspension, performance exhaust, and manual transmission.
Any thoughts on potential causes would be appreciated!
