Default Tracking a new car?

Greetings fellow Corvette Brothers and Sisters!

Just got word that my new Z was born today and is bayed in the Bowling Green lot waiting for transport to my courtesy delivery dealer. Do any of you know if there is a way to "track" my vehicles progress as it makes it way to me? I have seen a few threads where folks have posted screen shots of a map showing the vehicle location. Not sure how they did that, so I am trying to get edumacated. I have never ordered a car before, so this whole experience is quite new to me.

Thanks in advance!

Have your dealer set up onstar for you and get the onstar app on your phone. It it quite a bit of entertainment once your Vette leaves BG.

Oh wow,...it's that easy? The dealer can setup onstar remotely like that? Who woulda thunk? Thanks!

I got the rail car number from my dealer and called the RR hotline during transit. A waste of time because even a week after my car was delivered the RR hotline thought it was still waiting in the originating rail yard.

On my last 2 Vettes I personally called onstar myself to try to activate it so I could track the cars. I got absolutely nowhere with them as they would repeatedly state that I need to hit the blue button. I said I can't, the car is 600 miles away. Round and round, no where fast. I called my dealer and told them what I was trying to do and they somehow got it activated. Just call your dealer once the car is built and tell them what you are trying to do. Get the onstar app, and then enter your VIN, should be all set.

Going to Indy won't involve rail BTW.

Mine was shipped private carriage from dealer in MD to Oklahoma. Enjoyed watching the progress of the car moving west. Noticed his progress and layover locations and when he moved from one state to another. It was easy to project the target date and time for his delivery. Once driver contacted me I pinned my location and he had no issues finding my home even though I lived out in the country. It really is kind of exciting knowing that it is coming and where it is on a daily basis. Hope you can enjoy the experience.

I've never bought a brand new car. The two day wait for my money to get shuffled and meet the owner at the bank to get my C7 almost killed me. I can't imagine the anticipation of a new Corvette build and delivery.

I did the same (that is, having it shipped from a dealer on the east coast via a transport company). It was a lot of fun watching the progress. Every once in a while they would go in a different direction (to make another delivery) and it would get a bit frustrating. Same for the days were they made little progress.

But overall, it added to the excitement of getting my brand new Vette.

I think in your case - 230-ish miles from Bowling Green - it would be quicker to contact your dealer and have them watch the status number. The possibility is pretty good that your car will be delivered to the dealer the same day it ships from BG.

I tried that with mine being shipped from Bowling Green to my Courtesy Delivery Dealer. Talked to OnStar on the phone, got my OnStar account started (no money just the free trial.) They tried but got nowhere! I gave up.

The Courtesy Delivery Service Manager was great. He called when the car came in and asked if I wanted to be there before they removed the paper. Wasn't time so went the next day and watched the C7 Tech drill holes and install the Stage 2 Option side skirts. Great guy, small distributorship that didn't care about me being in the Service Bay talking pics!

I agree.
3.5 hours up I-65. You’ll have the car the day it leaves the assembly plant or at worst next morning.

Reading your subject line, I was going to suggest breaking it in first.

Good point. You guys are probably right, car would end up at my courtesy dealer same day (assuming it was picked up in the morning-"ish". Thanks for pointing out the obvious! LOL!
