Default Automatic Z06

Something is driving me crazy 😜. What is the deal with people wanting an automatic Z06? There are more of them out on dealer lots for sale brand new and some previous cars.
What is happening and why? Part of the fun driving your Z06 is shifting through the gears. I am totally shocked at these figures. What is it and why even men are wanting an automatic. I have never driven an automatic Z06 and want to order a new one and even my dealer said they sell more automatics. Am I missing something here? Please help!!!!

All I can say is that anything you deem to be the best is what the world should abide! Have you not ever heard of preference? I can't believe you are in a quandary. You can't be helped my friend.

Some of us don't even want a Z06 because it isn't the Stingray they have wanted since way back when it was a Sting Ray. Also, some of us have shifted plenty of gears over the years and choose to buy the car they want. Even men. Even damn men!!

I'm sorry it troubles you so.

All I can say is that I had a manual 706, and if I was to buy a new one after owning an Auto Stingray , it would be AutoZ06.

How much fun would that be?

Best of both worlds, IMO

Can anyone tell me what the WOT bark sounds like? It must be heavenly.

You just can't get that in a manual.

I can say the reverse, why would anyone want a manual?

It’s a personal preference, intended usage (commute in high-traffic area) some for health reasons can’t drive a stick anymore, etc, etc

OP why do some want a white car and not a red one? I hope you aren’t serious about your question...if so, there’s no hope for you.

Looking back at the way it was stated, I believe you are right that his post is in jest. In that case, I apologize for the snark in my previous comment.

If we really want to get the one and only true answer to the question, it must somehow be framed around the NAV/AA/Carplay system in order to get the smartest guy in the world to notice.

Different preferences for different people. Not a thing wrong with an automatic Z06 - the car is still a beast and I'd bet the owners of the A8 cars get just as much fun driving them as those that have the M7 cars.

I would never buy a manual transmission anything. Automatics are faster and with the paddles makes it so much fun.

If everybody liked the same thing, it would be a boring world.

I am in the love to shift camp and do not care that my stick is 2/10s of a sec slower in the 1/4 mile as I do not track my car.

Some have knee issues which make constant clutch pedal pushing difficult

Not going to get into the M7 versus A8 debate. I chose a 2019 M7 Z06 Convertible because that is what I wanted. Just get what you want and enjoy it.

That’s not the only reason...

OP, I wouldn’t want an automatic sports car, but that’s certainly the trend worldwide. The C8 will probably only be available in an auto, and even the new super-duper GT500 will launch exclusively with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Some of the reasons are obvious: better fuel economy, convenience, quicker shifting, etc., and yes, faster. Also, how many Millennials or iGen’er (Gen Z) even know the purpose of a third pedal?

Get’em while you can as unfortunately the manuals are quickly becoming extinct.

My C7 is an Automatic and my Viper is Manual. I enjoy getting hard on the manual in the Viper at times. Both are pretty darn fun. If (or when) I buy a ZO6 it will probably be a manual to replace the Viper and I will hold on to the Auto Stingray. Nothing like banging thru the gears.

The manual will be the rotary phone of the future. There is something satisfying about twirling the dial but in today's world new technology is better faster and long since supplanted the archaic. Keep dialing zero for rotary if you choose.

It’s a preference and to me where you live.

Where I live, there is a ton of traffic, stop and go, no fun, first gear, then stop and repeat. I can always shift “manually” with the A8 too.

That and arthritis in my feet is primarily why I traded my 2015 M7 z51 for a Grand Sport Auto. Yes, geezers still want to have fun....
