Having driven a manual for my daily drive and also while in Europe, I got a belly full it it. So, its just my personal preference for the automatic. That is all it should be. Plus I have the A6 in my 2014 which is the bullet proof model compared to some A8's.
Something is driving me crazy 😜. What is the deal with people wanting an automatic Z06? There are more of them out on dealer lots for sale brand new and some previous cars.
What is happening and why? Part of the fun driving your Z06 is shifting through the gears. I am totally shocked at these figures. What is it and why even men are wanting an automatic. I have never driven an automatic Z06 and want to order a new one and even my dealer said they sell more automatics. Am I missing something here? Please help!!!!
The fact that what other's want bothers you so much most likely supports that you are indeed crazy, however it has nothing to do with Z06s or transmissions. And yes, you are missing something here like the fact that different people have different preferences and that's normal.
OP, I wouldn’t want an automatic sports car, but that’s certainly the trend worldwide. The C8 will probably only be available in an auto, and even the new super-duper GT500 will launch exclusively with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Some of the reasons are obvious: better fuel economy, convenience, quicker shifting, etc., and yes, faster. Also, how many Millennials or iGen’er (Gen Z) even know the purpose of a third pedal?
Get’em while you can as unfortunately the manuals are quickly becoming extinct.
I can't speak to the pricing of the Stingray in it's various configurations, but I can on the Z06 since I've purchase two, both new, a 2018 and a 2016. In the Z06 model, the manual M7 transmission has no Gas Guzzler Federal charge and the automatic A8 does....hence, the Fed believes the manual trans Z06 get better mileage/fuel economy than the automatic A8. I don't believe it or agree with it, but arguing with the government, what can I say. From my own experience, the M7 gets poorer mileage than the A8. I'm not talking about expressway mileage where you're cruising at 70-80 mph, I'm talking about everyday mileage, driving on all roads at all speeds. Besides that, the M7 owner tends to jump on the car in lower gears since that's where the fun is, but the mileage dumps! That's my experience and I've had both transmissions!

I agree. I rarely shift before 3k. And when driving spirited much higher.

Yeah, I have a M7 Z06 too... and know about the gas guzzler tax, which I unfortuntely had to pay on some other vehicles. Yes, the M7 somehow fell within specifications; probably due to the 7th gear, which I’ve never used. Actually, I seldom hit 6th, so I know that my carbon footprint is larger than it should be... and the active rev matching hasn’t helped my fuel economy either
