Default Break Squeal

I have a '15 Z51 and I recent;y starting hearing a squealing sound (like the metal brake sensor) while braking. I'm pretty sure this does not happen until the brakes are warmed up a bit but I cannot be positive about that.

The car has about 20k miles and I know there are many factors that affect brake wear but I would be surprised if my brake pads were worn to the sensors. So today I took off each wheel and noticed that all four (yes I only looked at the outer pad) pads had at least twice the thickness of the distance between zero and the end of the sensor.

It's possible an inner pad was worn but I doubt there is a sensor on the inner pad and with a newer car I personally doubt the inner pad would be wearing significantly different than the outer pad.

So what might it be? Maybe a hard spot in the middle of a pad that I wore down to? Something else?

It could be as you stated, and as the pad wears it may stop. I have heard that if you bed the brakes again that could stop the squealing. Just take it out, and do some aggressive braking from say 45 mph down to 10 mph around 5 times to heat the brakes up. Then take a drive long enough to cool the brakes back down before you park the car. Don't know if that will work, but it's easy enough to do. Good luck. Like you I hate squealing brakes.
