For the folks that have replaced their original Spats with the painted Carbon Flash, does it really make that much of a difference, or look that much better? I am on the fence about doing it. I am gonna have SunTek put on my front fenders soon, so if I am gonna change the Spats that will be the time to do it. If I do, I will have them wrapped as well before they are put back on the car. Thanks.
Definitely a significant improvement in looks. Transforms them from an inexpensive unfinished add on to a classy finished wheel spat.
question to you guys that replaced spats. Did you move the liner on top or below the spats? It was a pain in the *** for me
I just did this - the trick is to have the liner pulled away and slide the spat under it while maneuvering into position. The two pins help, but you need to make sure you pull towards you once the tape is removed, or you will see a gap. I also installed carbon flash mud cars (front and rear) - now everything is carbon flash (front splitter, spats, skirts and mud flaps).
The liner interlocks with the spats and the front fascia at the front of the wheel well. It is easy to get the liner in the wrong place with it pushing the spat toward the center of the wheel well. This can eventually cause tire rub on the front of the spat that can wear through the spat. The quick way to check to make sure it is assembled in correct order is to check the gap between the front side marker light and the spat. If is a narrow strip you are fine, in fact the thinner the strip is the better. It it is larger than a narrow strip you need to take it apart again and reassemble.
