Default Center Console Lid Issue - Will GM Replace?

I know there have been threads on this in the past but my questions is has there been a service bulletin on this and will they replace it if you are past the 3yr/36k bumper to bumper warranty if it does occur?

Probably depends on the dealer - if you are out of the 3/36 warranty, they do not have to replace the console lid. But as above, maybe they would do a goodwill replacement for you. Worth a shot. Not like it is an unknown problem with the part.

So I wonder if one could apply hot air to shrink it? Might sound dumb but might work. I do not want to be the alpha test site though.

Probably hotter than a standard blow dryer but a lot cooler than a heat gun.

The problem is the glue that is underneath has let loose , that is what is causing the wrinkles , even if u could shrink it which I dont think you can as its not that type of material it will still come back

Some have taken the lid to an upholstery shop where they peal the cover back and reglue it back down , I am sure it's not that expensive to do

If you know of any threads that have a guide to where to find the part and how to replace it, a link would be fantastic.

The best place to buy a new lid is CULTRAG Performance , they are a vendor here or u can do a google search

They are advertising it on Ebay in many colors, in red its $179.99 and free shipping

Might be cheaper on their website

Best price and they ship fast . As far as installation it's only 3 torx head screws ....

They run around $250 but the selection is slim to match the interior of the car. I have red interior and the only option for that they have is the Z06 cover... I have a Z51 so I'm not going to falsely badge my car.

However, you can definitely find a lot of options on eBay.

Instead of replacing, this is one option

Seems like this is such a common problem they should actually recall this.

I'm pretty far out of warranty... Like 2 years... I don't think they would do that for me.

Do we have any success stories with this one? That's a little work to get that in.
