Targa "buffeting" C7 vs. C6
Anybody move from a C6 coupe to a C7 coupe and notice that the "buffetting" one can experience with the targa panel removed is quite a bit less?
Maybe it is just my excitement about my new (to me) 2015, but yesterday, for the first time since I bought the car, I removed the targa panel and did about a 15 mile cruise including local and some highway miles. I rode a few miles windows up and a few with windows down, each at varying speeds.
In my C6 (a 3LT with the one-piece cloth hatch cover), anything over 45 MPH or so with windows up introduced an annoying sort of boom effect. With windows down, that was not a problem, but once I got up to 65 MPH or so the buffeting was pretty terrible and made top-off highway cruising no fun at all.
Now, in the C7 (a 2LT with the 2-piece cloth hatch cover) with windows up there was only a very minimal booming effect which seemed to come on around 60 MPH. It was tolerable even at highway cruising speeds. With windows down I was perfectly comfortable up to about 80 MPH (which was the fastest I went on this cruise)!
I'm thinking that the more sloping roofline of the C7 reduces the volume of air getting caught up in the hatch area, and the different (and I think better) design of the hatch cover buffers the problem once air does start spilling in.
If I am not just imagining this, what an unexpected additional benefit of having moved up to the C7 world!

Can't speak to the C6, but my C7 is certainly less than my C5.

The C7 seems to have less buffeting than the C5s I had. Not complaining one bit.

I agree, I noticed less turbulence with the C7 Coupe over the C6 Coupe.
Also, with either one, at highway speeds with the top off, it's much better with the windows up only 3/4 of the way, instead of all the way up.
And around town or back roads not exceeding aprox 50mph, there's a nice improvement with the windows up only 1/4 of the way.
Just my experience for what its worth
