You may have broken one or more cords in sidewall of the tire. Get it checked ASAP.

Just take the wheel in and have it checked. Sounds like a bent rim or a damaged tire.

Jack front end up , put a 2X4 or 2X6 on the ground next to the tire ( in front or back ), lightly touching it, spin the wheel watch if the distance changes between the two for a general idea.
Hope this helps!

Hmm, checking would be OK BUT be careful about:
1) buying rims from a dealer
2) having a dealer install the old (or new if needed) tire.

Was talking to the Chevy dealer Service Manager where they did my Courtesy Delivery. Great guy and in this small dealer they have one C7 Tech and he is the only one to touch Vettes. I mentioned that the large Chevy dealer in my town won't touch low profile run flats. I mentioned that the Firestone store with 12 service bays and ~20 techs only allows 1 or 2 to fix flats or change low profile tires. He said he does the same. Won't waste his Techs time messing with them as if you don't do enough you can't do it fast enough to make money! He sends Vette and Camaro etc low profile tires to a local Tire shop.

You probably have a bent rim, alignment usually won't cause an instant vibration and the wide GS rims are known to bend. Tadge, the Vette Chief Engineer has posted on the Forum that bending is due to "potholes. Some don't accept that but my GS is 2 years old and without the freezing thawing issues "Up North," we have few significant pothole issues in Eastern SC. A bent rim will produce and out of round tire instantly! Does not have to be out much.

You can find OEM wheels on the Net cheaper then MSRP. You might even try Discount Tire who will get the wheels from a wholesaler and usually will give a reasonable discount.

Good Luck.

Better to bend than break....one reason I avoid cars with rubber band sidewalls, some potholes will destroy anything though...irritating.

The governor of our state has proposed an increase in our gasoline tax of 20-30 cents a gallon to help fix the terrible roads.

They are bad, but that's going to really increase the cost of a fill-up of premium fuel!

I guess it's still cheaper than hitting a pothole or crack in the road and paying for a new wheel and/or tires.

I'm old enough to remember when people said the same thing about "made in Japan". We don't hear much about "Japan Junk" anymore and like it or not "Made in China" isn't going away. These GM wheels were made in Taiwan. Most people would consider that China. And they are a work of art.

I’ve bent a OEM wheel, a forged mono block wheel, and a upper control arm bolt so far, hitting potholes.

First I've heard of a bent mono. Must be utterly vexing.

.

So I just my car back from Chevrolet. Seems all four wheels were bent and the front end was out of alignment. The wheel repair and alignment cost me $1040.

Wow. That's a lotta dough for your repairs. Sorry to read about it.

Years ago I used to go up to LI regularly on all routes: north thru Bronx, city to BQE/LIE, Verrazzano Br. to Belt Pkwy. I was always in my SUV and wondered how strong it had to be. HAD TO BE. To withstand those roads with nary a scratch (altho I did get my alignment done twice a year). I gave it a lot of thought but I could not imagine what route to take to get to LI if I took my Vette and its 'factory' forged wheels and not ruin something on the car. So, I never took the Vette there!

It wasnt my 15 but my 08 that I hit a monster pothole. I developed a small trans leak I couldnt stop. Took it to the dealer and the problem was hitting that pothole cracked the upper and lower radiator supports and the cooling line for the trans couldnt seal right . $1400 worth of damage most covered by insurance still counts as an accident on the policy

Runflatred. I sympathize with you. I am from Queens. Back in the day Nassau county roads relative to Queens roads were paradise. My sister lives in Garden City Nassau County and the roads there today are worse than I remember Queens roads ever being. In 4 years and 22k miles she has had 8 tires and 8 wheels replaced on her Audi with her tire and wheel platinum coverage. I am picking up a new factory ordered Grand Sport next month and do plan to drive it up to Garden City in July. I will have tire and wheel insurance! DC and DC metro roads are a little bit better, but not much.
