I bought a tire and wheel warranty when I bought the car last year for $1500. When I got a flat six months ago they jerked me around so much I bought a new tire on my own and cancelled the policy. Before you pay for a policy, check with the company and make sure they cover everything your salesman says it does.

I got the policy from the finance manager at Kerbeck in Atlantic City where I bought the car. At the time he swore that if you get a flat or damage a rim they can’t be repaired they must be replaced. When I got a flat the insurance company which happened to be Chevrolet only authorized a repair. I drive fast and a repair reduces the speed rating so I bought a new tire out of my own pocket. It took three months to finally get my money back and only got back $1350 even though I never made a claim. Like I said, check with the company before you sign on the dotted line. BTW they also said they will only authorize a repair for rims unless they were damaged beyond repair which is unlikely. Most rim damage is repairable.

So now that I got my car back from the dealer I will wash it wax it and put it in the garage because I sure as hell cant drive it on my shitty roads. Nassau County, land of high taxes and super shitty roads.

Now you know why so many of us on Long Island put our Corvette's away from the start of the snow/ice/pothole season around New Years day, and don't really start driving them regularly until the pothole work is mostly done around May 15th.
I have owned SUV's as my primary vehicle since 1993 - Jeep Grand Cherokees for me an assorted others for my wife and now kids, and (knock on wood) I have not had a single pothole take out a tire, much less ruin a rim or damage the suspension on any of the Jeeps we have owned. I can't say the same for the cars we have also owned and drive. Until the roads are fully repaired, I will not take my GS out except during the daylight hours so that I can see and avoid all the potholes.
