I finally traded in my C4 for a C7 and loving it. Once I figure out how to post pics, I will do so. My question has to do with microfiber towels. I am looking to get new ones for the new car and has been a long time since I purchased any. Where and what kind do people use now. I searched the forum but didn't see many posts about it.
Well, I figured out how to attached a photo. Sorry it's so large. The car is a 2019 Z51 with Mag Ride and black 2LT interior, auto. This is a nice upgrade from the '92.
I made the mistake (imho) of getting the largest, heaviest, and most expensive I could find. And, found them to be... totally, unmanageable. I had to cut into smaller pieces to actually use. Then, they shed too readily.
While still intact they were way too heavy when wet, and unable to be wrung out effectively without mechanical means, to be used more than once between dryings. So, I suggest staying relatively small and thin--also, probably cheap.
I went back to quality all cotton terry-cloth with the hem stitching removed (too often poly thread).
I've learned with some recent experience that the super plush stuff isn't good for much for me except aiding drying. Some just lint the car up. 300 & 350gsm Rag Company towels are good for just about everything. Waffle weave stuff is better for glass.
For wheels I use a rougher towel, like I'd find at Autozone.
I have the ( yellow ) one's from Sam's. Heard that the stitching creates small scratches? For the cheaper Sams,B Jays etc would it be advisable to cut off the stitching ( or would that create lint ? )

The Rag Co has nice towels. Best to have specific towels for washing, drying, detailing and glass. The yellow costco ones are OK but there is much better out there. I use them for non-painted surfaces and treat them as disposable.
