Last Fall I was in a medium-size city in central Illinois, looking for an address about two miles away that had existed for about 20+ years. I got out my trusty iPhone, opened Google Maps, and entered the address as shown on the company's website. Google Maps politely told me "Unable to find that address". I checked that I had entered it correctly and tried again, same result. Not the first time that has happened to me with Google Maps.
I then entered it in the factory nav and it took me directly there.

Right on!! People, use these devices with a little common sense; for example, those times when they take you the "shortest route" on roads with many traffic lights.

Exactly. One of the biggest "advantages" touted by Google Maps aficionados is that "you get instant updates!" But do you? In fact, is Google Maps updated any more often that the on board Nav system? Google the issue and you will find many people complaining about the lack of updates, sometimes amounting to YEARS between changes. The other issue with updates is that they are statistically unlikely to help you. Every time an update notice comes out for an on board system they tout how many tens of thousands of changes are in the new update. But we're talking an entire continent here and the likelyhood that you will be affected is slim.
Went out cruising today and figured I would start the update about 50 miles away from home on the return trip.
The directions say DO NOT drive but the DIC said "you may drive". Good, I had planned on it.
So it updated fine. I'm still not a fan of voice recognition. The instructions say to confirm a successful installation
by telling the NAV to search for "Shake Shack". The thing said "calling Sade". I do know someone by that name
and the call was placed. Maybe I needed to include the word "search" in the voice command.
