Default Remaining C7's?

Now that the ME C8 is official. Do you think there will be a rush to buy the remaining FE C7s or do you think they will sit on dealer's lots with buyers waiting for the c8?

I am hoping it will sit there since I wanted one. I wonder when they will stop the factory order C7. I want a custom order C7 base but I dont know when is the best time to jump in. Too early, the price can drop further, too late and the production can stop and I am left with what's on the dealer lot......sigh

Kinda hard to make a guess. With many waiting to make a decision on the C8 there's no way to tell who will like it, and who will not and go on to buy a new C7. It's one of those "time will tell" situations. IMHO

They will sell them all; likely with huge discounts just like previous generations

The usual routine is for the dealers, through GM to offer big discounts to move them off the lots. But this is a different scenario. This will be the last time someone can buy a new front engine Corvette. When these are sold, that's it, an era is over. It's going to take a little while for this to play out as it's not as clear cut as when we went from the C6 to the C7.

The point you make is why I ask. It will be the last FE Corvette.

20 percent moves the left overs as gm moves to make way for the c8 ...

i hear the extra 3 grand to existing corvette owners has successfully been cutting dealer inventory...

ive seen c7 z06 1LZ manuals advertised for as low as 68 grand brand new...

its tempting as hell...

i fully expect another couple of grand off...but Im still holding strong to wait for the c8...

last nights NY city photos helped support my decision to keep waiting...

idont think there will be a rush for front engine c7 s based off of engine location but rather the upcoming and existing discounts off msrp that will create demand onleft over c7 s in inventory...

c7 is a great sports car...getting a nice discount is never a bad decision...

that said the c8 is quite a long travelled long awaited rear mid engine sports car chevy has teased since the early 1970s if not earlier..

being a teenager back then and seeing all the proposed corvettes...its kind of fun at 60 years old to finally get to see and buy a rear mid engine corvette in reality...

so,e would say dreams do come true....and for some...just being able to afford a c7 corvette brand new is also a fine dream due to discounting...

650 hp manual transmission c7 z06 for 68 grand is a hell of a deal...

should cost about the same as the 500 hp z51 dct fe4 1LT c8...

priorities? Hp or rear mid engine becomes the discussion

One other factor comes to mind. How much 'Corvette Fever' will the C8 generate? The C7 did an outstanding job of generating demand. Not everyone that caught the fever could afford a new C7 so the dealers kindly directed them to their selection of new and used C6s and used C5s. I don't know what happened nationwide, but locally, our big Corvette dealer couldn't get enough used C6s and C5s. When I visited them just to get a look at some C7s, I checked out their inventory of C6s. In early 2014, they had one remaining car, and they weren't bashful about their asking price.
So we'll see if the C8 can generate that kind of demand that the C7 did.

I expect a sharp drop in sales between yesterday's announcement, and the July reveal. I was ready to pull the trigger last weekend on a steeply discounted c7 base. With the announcement the new c8 won't be some exclusive six figure only high end edition, I think I'll wait until I hear more about it before I make my mind up. I may very well end up buying a c7 due to the price and if the C8 doesn't tickle my fancy, but I'm willing to wait a few months to find out.

Anyone desiring an M7 will be buying a C7. It doesn't look like the first iteration of the C8 will offer a manual transmission. Hopefully the paddle shifters on the DCT C8 will be more responsive than those on the A8 C7 while just cruising.

If I had not bought my new 2019 Z06 in November 2018 I would still be buying a new C7 even hearing the announcement of the C8. Me personally would never buy first year model. Not interested in the C8. Have had a lot of Vettes over the years and to me my goal is to have this paid off in less than 3 years and not have car payments and enjoy my beast. Lol.

Hey, let's all settle down a little bit regarding the hysteria of the new C8...look at history....Chevy has been making good and sometimes great decisions about marketing the Corvette for at least the last 20 years...I expect the new car to be a huge success for GM. The automotive landscape is changing very fast... the rise of electrics...and the (inevitable) rise of SUVs to replace sedans (all about packaging that's why I have always loved wagons...SUVs are simply tall wagons - nothing more or less) and the demand for exclusive looking YET attainable American sports cars is cast in stone. The C8 will be a huge success...the market will settle down...and older Corvettes will still be coveted. Relax everybody...and enjoy all this while you can!

I know I will no matter what I drive. It was an ad slogan of the fifties and it still applies...."America is the greatest land of all!"

I believe there are pressures both ways. We don't even know the specs of the C8 yet. The C7 is the last of the hatchbacks with lots of room. It's the last of the massive front end. It's the last of the manuals. If you value any of those things you'd better get one now because when they are gone, that's it. You may very well get a "better deal" toward the end of the year, but you'll have fewer cars to choose from. Fewer colors, fewer options, and more things you 'just can't live with.' I'm guessing for example, that the price of the last few M7s will go up, not down. And who knows if we will ever have another true convertible? If you want a 1LT black interior in black or torch red, you'll probably be able to get one, but don't expect to walk in on a 2LT LBR in Kalahari.

GM Is smart in not releasing to much C8 Info.It will only harm inventories and the factory with orders and allocations.Usually you get a better price on in stock units.
I went for curiosity reasons on Kerbecks website this morning.
This is the time to sell and holy crap the discounts now. Will they get better??
Don't know of all this overstocking and where? Kerbeck had ZERO Z06 verts for example. If your going nuts trying to get exactly what you want you may miss the train trying to save a few hundred bucks.
If your not to fussy you will end up with the rock-bottom leftovers these will be the biggest discounts. The combo's no one wants
If your a serious buyer? Now is the time to spend serious time watching different inventory's and pricing.Once your pick is their,it may not last. Then your out for NEW

Is there an official announcement from GM confirming my 2019 is the last production year (sorry for my ignorance)?

If you want to special order I would nt wait any longer the last C7 will be auctioned in June If you figure 4 or 5 weeks for an order to deliver you are getting on the last days to order one.
