The C7 will be the second shortest run in Corvette history

The C7 was a stopgap car developed during restructuring when everyone really wanted to build the mid engine car. It was always going to be a short run to get them to the car they really wanted to build. It would have been easy for GM to mail it in.
A funny thing happened on the way to mediocrity though. The design team put their heart and soul into this thing, they made bold styling changes yet kept a potent link to the past with the Stingray name and design elements. They made the car better in every way. I would argue that the C7, a car built mainly to fill a gap, ended up exceeding expectations as much as any car ever.
It has a chance to join the C2 and C5 as something special one day.

Hmm, to me the reality is that the C7, while it may have a short generation, has been the same for much longer than many cars that had changes within their generations. The C1 had a lot of changes within its generation as did C3, the C7 has stayed pretty stagnate for 6 years. I do however, believe the C7 will go down in history as the ultimate iteration of the true Corvette. The C8 will forever change what a Corvette is... I'm just not sure if we'll have gained something or lost...

Thats the funny thing - when you look back in history the answer is clearly No! the newest is not always better, its sometimes a lot worse.

How about the 2018 C7? Shortest model year run?
In what was one of the shortest model years, a total of 9,686 Corvettes were produced. Production started June 5, 2017 and ends January 28, 2018. The plant was down for three months, making the 2018 model year approximately 5 months.
