I'd say count your losses and move on to the ZL1. You will definately love the performance much more than the Z51. I kinda made the same jump but with a Z06. No need in keeping a trouble riddled car when its pretty cheap to move to the other one. Not to mention the C7 is nearing its end. Soon you will be paying quite a bit more to upgrade due to the number of both new and used ones sitting around on lots.

The Zl1 is a nice car, however one thing i hate is the driving position and visibility. I've driven and ran my buddies Zl1 against my procharged z51 and i'm able to pull him in every scenario (he is a manual vs a8 to be fair). The camaro handles great for the size of the car but you definitely feel the weight vs the vette. I'd take my car for the twisties every time (his is not the 1LE). He is more of a touring guy and for that purpose the camaro is probably better. Id rather go on a long trip in that car than my vette. If the LT4 is your main deciding factor, you can almost supercharge your z51 for the 5k difference and be just as fast in a straight line. Just my .02 on the two cars.

Ehh i see your point, but to most non car people, they see a Zl1 and don't really register the difference between that and their friend's sister's 4 banger turbo or v6 camaro. Most non car people acknowledge the looks of the c7 since it is unique, even if they dont know what it actually is technically.

Sounds like you are leaning towards the Camaro. Go test drive one and if it fits all your requirements, make the deal.

I'm definitely going to go drive it at least.

Regardless of Corvette vs. Camaro, based on the issues you've had, I'd say get out. Only you can answer if the desire to exit is amplified by the REAL issues you are experiencing. I won't be the first to say this, but have you considered getting into a "great deal" on another Z51? What you are experiencing is not acceptable or normal.

You just have to weigh how important that person's opinion is, int he grand scheme of what you buy and enjoy. If we're talking about random Corolla lady stopped next to you at the traffic light who you'll never even meet or talk to... to me that's pretty low on my priority of things I take into consideration when I choose what car I want to drive and enjoy.

Not to mention the bad experiences so far has left a bad taste in my mouth so to speak.

I was in basically this same scenario as you a couple years ago. I bought a 2015 Stingray with the A8, and the transmission had to be pulled out of the car 6 times before I reached 5 digits on the odometer. It was my dream car that became a nightmare, and I did end up dumping it too, as much as wanted to love it. So I totally get it.
My GF has a new 2019 2SS Camaro, and honestly, there's certain aspects of that car that I like even better than the C7. The 10speed auto for example, is excellent, and a big step up from anything offered on the Corvette. The LCD screen in place of the rearview mirror, eliminating anything resembling a blind spot, etc. If the whole 'cachet' thing isn't a big limiting factor, I can't imagine not having a massive amount of fun with a ZL1.

What we have here is:
Z06 taste and stingray budget . Very common place to be.
i don’t believe OP will be happy long term in a Zl1 Camaro. The appearance of a car is a huge factor in why we choose one over the other.
OP has made it clear he likes the C7 over a Camaro.
Sell your blower and Z51 & Hold out out for a Z06.

Why not just buy another Vette? Most of them don't have those problems. (And they're running some pretty good deals right now) . You can buy a well optioned Grand Sport for less than the price of a ZL1 from what I'm seeing out there.

A nonsensical poll, imho.

But if what he's after is that supercharged power (either a ZL1 or the blower he already bought for the C7), buying a GS means he's spending the bucks and not getting the same power.

Just put the blower you already have on the grand sport if you went that route. Depending on what kit it is, its probably nearly or the exact same for a z51 as a grand sport. Both are dry sump engines.
