Default Used C7 ZR1 sitting at dealer lot

I just swung by my local dealership to check on my C6 while it's being repainted, and came across a 1 year old C7 ZR1 sitting in the used car lot. I went over and checked it out because I figured it just had to be parked in the wrong spot, but no, it turns out the OO didn't like the Torch Red he'd ordered, so he brought the car back, took a $40k hit in depreciation, and ordered a brand new ZR1 in white. If anyone is interested it has 11.5k on the odometer, and the sticker is showing $120k for the purchase price. It's sitting at Chuck Fairbanks Chevrolet in Desoto, Texas. I'm not affiliated with the dealer in any way; I just thought this was a hell of a deal for someone who might be in the market, and figured I'd post it up here in case anyone was interested.

Seems like it took the original owner quite a while (11K miles) to determine that he should trade it because he didn't like the color.

They called me about that zr1.

I suspect it will take a lower price to move it considering the miles and it is a 1ZR.

$120k, isn’t that MSRP for a 1ZR? With 11K miles that’ll be sitting for a long time.

If he took a $40K hit for depreciation in one year of ownership, the guy has more money than sense.

I'd get the VIN and do a little research on the car.

then go over it with a very patient eye and magnifying glass.

I would just wrap it or repaint it. Hell of a lot cheaper than $40k hit.

But, let's face it, there are those for whom price/depreciation doesn't matter... and, I'd never repaint a new car either.

Price sounds like the original sticker price. if he took a $40k hit the dealer gave him about $80k or so sounds like they are trying to take the new owner to the cleaners too. But not knowing what other options are on this car makes it hard to get its true value

"$40,000.00 in depreciation? " That's BS.

"$120,000.00?" They're dreaming.....

Post up the Carfax & GMVIS ?

Something doesn't line up here. They want $120k for a used ZR1, but they claim the guy who traded it lost $40K? So the dealer is planning to make over $30K profit on this car. Isn't that a little greedy?

This car had $131,755.00 list price. Here is the breakdown.

1YZ07 Corvette ZR1 Coupe $118,900.00
ERI Battery Protection 100.00
J6F Red Calipers 595.00
M5U 8 Speed Automatic 1795.00
Q9K Chrome Wheels 1995.00
R8E Gas Guzzler Tax 2100.00
SFE Wheel Locks 60.00
UQT Data Recorder 1795.00
ZTK Track Package 2995.00
3F9 Red Seat Belts 395.00
1ZR Package N/C
Shipping 1095.00
Total $131,755.00

The only way this owner took a $40,000 hit was if they paid way over sticker. Also this dealer had this car in stock when new it wasn't a sold order.

$120k sticker - $40k depreciation = $80k + dealer mark up = asking price?

It seems most folks don't agree with your assessment of it being "a hell of a deal" Ed. It seems to me perhaps a low option car with a track package would be purchased to go to the track. I'd be worried the car has been driven hard, even raced some, then turned in. Not that I could afford it anyway. Sure looks awesome though
