Rodney, I had a paid subscription on my previous '16 C7 to use for a 3 week road trip. I called at the end of 30 days to cancel, and the rep ask if I would rather push the subscription on a 6 month hiatus. She said I could call at the end of 6 months, and tell them I wanted to keep it that way if I didn't need to use it. And, when I want to use it I just push the blue button, and tell them to hook me up for my road trips. When I hook it up the subscription must be for no less than a month. You just have to remember to call at the end of 6 months, or they will turn everything back on.

Is it true that if you don't have onstar, but lets say in an emergency push the onstar button that someone will respond? I heard I think on this forum that it was true.
Once you don't pay the bill the system is deactivated and OnStar doesn't respond to anything but a push on the blue button which connects you to the sales office.
I have active OnStar accounts on all three of my vehicles (including my 2003 Tahoe which I had upgraded from analog to digital in ~2007). I have the so called Protection Package which doesn't include Navigation. I get crash response (the most important feature), the ability to purchase cell phone minutes for when I am in an area where my cell phone shows No Service (OnStar cell phone reaches further than a hand held cell phone due to a much better antenna) and of course diagnostics.
