What do yall use to wipe it down some kind of spray? Thanks

Pulling the motor down makes it easier to get into all those nooks and crannies

I just used detail spray, but spray your microfiber towel first and not the engine compartment. Doesn't leave anything behind and doesn't cause any issues with the engine heat.

After each time I drive the car I do a quick touch up of the engine compartment. It only takes a couple of minutes and all the engine compartments of all my vehicles look new even after years and lots of miles: The key here is to never let the compartment get dirty. Here are the steps I use:
* First, I brush as much dust off as possible with a large soft bristle paint brush. Works great for electrical connectors and other parts with lots of cracks and crevices.
* If needed, I then use my shop vac for hard to reach spots with the crevice tool and brush as necessary.
* Last, if needed, I wipe down everything with 303 Speed Detailer. The good thing about this spray is it works well for both metal and plastic parts (repels moisture). The best I have ever used. As Tim Boone said, I spray the applicator cloth and not the engine.

I spray mine down with diluted Simple Green a couple times a summer, then rinse with a gentle mist from the hose. Dry with an electric leaf blower. Then wipe down with an engine detailer.

I use a little Windex on a micro fiber, works GREAT in that the Windex is just strong enough to cut any oil/grease but won't damage your "Corvette" letters/stickers etc.

I use a Swiffer (or equivalent) duster to get the loose dirt removed, then use a moist Absorber to wipe down the components. If there are some greasy spots, a little Simple Green on a rag takes care of it. I do not use any spray that may leave any residue on the parts.

Good question.

*Always start with a cold engine.*

Spray list:

1) Simple green.
2) WD-40.
3) Engine detail spray.
4) High temp grease.
5) Water.

Caveat: "Wet engines equal electrical problems". Water will get into wiring harnesses, connectors and other places you cannot remove it!

Solution: Cover the alternator and fuse box with plastic?
(Hand cleaning will take care of most everything if you keep after it).

Finish by applying high temp grease to hood latches and hinges.
