Battery
In sept my 17 vert battery will be 3 years old, I'm thinking it may need to be changed out. Do most just have the dealer do it? If so I will take it to the cadillac dealer where my wife gets her car serviced because they will do the key fobs free of charge.
Or is there a better battery then what GM has
Our Florida heat can and will take a toll on batteries
Not sure what you meant about the key fob. I didn't lose anything when my battery was changed.

I'm thinking the same as you let the dealer change the battery in the car.
I don't get the range on my fob like it used to like remote start or putting the top down with the fob
I base this opinion on my owning/operating a chain of auto parts stores over 16 years and buying/selling/warranting literally thousands of batteries of several brands over the years.

PS: I did as Kevin says above and stayed with AC Delco. AND the Corvette Tech did a multi-point inspection and reset what needed to be reset (window indexing?) If was needed.

I replaced my car battery in 3 years, did it myself and have a PDF detailing how. But since you are not going to change your FOB battery you no doubt are not a a do it ourselver so won’t post the Link.
If it’s the 1st time even a great Caddy tech changes a C7 battery, good chance he’ll rip the carpet. A number of posts where Chevy Dealer tech did! For sure if you call AAA when the battery fails, that tech will rip the carpet!
I remove the bottom clips on the passenger side plastic wheel well cover to get that section of unbound carpet out from under. Easy to do with your fingers. In fact if I had a Dealer do it (no way) I would pop those two lower clips first and leave it lose!! BTW I bought a better than OEM Battery an AGM with 20% more cold cranking amps.
You’re on borrowed time with the FOB batteries. I change now at 2 years after I found both FOBs in 3 would not open the door. When I finally got one to open had to put the FOB in the slot on the steering column I to start it. Advise reading the manual to find out how or you could get stuck somewhere. BTW one of my FOBs was never used, sat in the draw for 3 years. Batteries go if used or not!
The FOBs need fresh, quality batteries. Bought some cheap ones on Amazon that only lasted a year. Not that hard to change FOB batteries, it’s outlined in the Owner’s Manual but then So is how to check oil level etc!

It also enabled me to find the fuse box in the trunk.
The trick is to take the whole carpet out of the trunk. Fortunately, there are only three fasteners holding it in. If you slip a plastic body panel pry bar between the carpet and the body, it comes right off. Then a little jiggling gets the carpet out. It makes it a lot easier to change the battery. I took pictures of the entire battery removal and replacement, if anyone is interested, I can do a thread.
Here are the tools I needed.
I have the two different sockets for the replacement. To make it easier, I put the smaller 10mm socket on the 1/4" Drive and the 13mm socket on the 3/8" Drive. That way I always knew which one to pick up.
The Carpet coming out
Here are where the fasteners are located.
Here is the carpet out of the trunk.
It always helps to having someone reading the directions to you! This is what it looks like without the carpet. You see the RPO Sticker and the Fuse Diagram. This plastic cover plate is not attached and surprisingly lifts right off.
This is what you see when you lift it off.
Fuse Box Close-ups
That is all, folks!
In the end it's a help BUT from some reports not that dramatic. I used a simple method that worked for me. The sound system started playing >1000 songs in shuffle mode from a thumb drive at high volume when I started the car.
BTW the C8 is so much quitter it's hard to believe! Sound system still starts hen I start the car but at a lower volume and can actually hear the words!
However don't hear NPP exhaust unless at WOT and it's set to "always Track." Bit of a downside but overall my wife has ridden in the C8 in the 3 1/2 months I have it more than she did in the 7 years of C7s!
