Filling gas tank is a huge mistake. Might apply for other vehicles, not this one though!
That's for sure! The fuel tank should only be filled to one quarter. When you store your C7 Corvette with a full tank of fuel the sending unit sensor card contact point on the float would actually be submerged in fuel. That’s not an issue with normal driving because the sending unit float moving up and down helps keep the contacts clean. However, should it remain submerged over long storage periods, sulfur contaminants in the fuel can change the resistance of the sending card, causing issues with the fuel system and no reading to your gas gauge.
The reason why most people were taught to fill up their tanks before a long-term storage would be to keep moisture out of the fuel tank. The C6, C7, and C8 Corvette fuel system is a closed system designed to keep moisture out and that’s why you can store your Corvette with just a quarter tank of fuel.
It costs several thousands of dollars to have the sending unit repaired because of the labor involved.
Not saying it will happen, but it significantly increases one's chances of ending up with a bad sending unit.
I have fairly frequently stored cars and I have a specific process for that, however I consider storing cars for 3-4 months over the winter more extended parking and I practically do nothing for that as nothing's really needed except battery tender unless vehicle is being stored in extreme cold.

Fortunately, I live in Virginia - and while we DO indeed get some cold weather - it's not like Minnesota. We do have plenty of decent sunny days from time to time during the winter. I generally do a thorough cleaning, change the oil & filter......plus put some extra air in the tires before December hits. The car is garaged, so I don't bother with a cover. I figure that as long as I drive it at least once every two or three weeks and keep it hooked up to the trickle charger, all will be good. Same goes for my girlfriend's C7, which is in a garage at the other house.
P.S. I really love the "lift" in the picture. That is a cool way to fit an extra car in your garage. Props to you!!

It was definitely a beautiful day for a drive. I took my Corvette out yesterday, though. Other stuff going on today & I work third shift tonight.....so it was my lazy day.
Man so sad to see I joined that winter club on Friday also. Washed it put some leather cleaner on the seats and put the cover on it and hooked up the batter tender. I am so sad I do not want to even go out to the garage and post a pic. Light snow and rain in the Buckeye state today. The count is on for spring.
40 and partly cloudy today. Got a very nice ride in today. I figure I have another week or so before the blanket goes on the Black Beauty. I am normally the last one in our group to put it away for the winter. I feel bad for them, they are missing out on some nice ride days.
I put my GS away 10 days ago ! I gave it a wash and detail in and out added 5 pounds of air to tires. Put some dryer sheets in glove box and console and sliced up Irish Spring soap in plastic dishes and put on driver, passenger and hatch floor area. Connected Battery Tender and covered !
I normally change oil but was still at around 66 % so at 8 % a month 6 months = 48 % in spring that will give me some time in spring to get oil changed depending what goes on with this Covid 19 in spring it's pretty high in my area now. We got a dusting of snow today so timing was good ! Picture of car is pre nap time letting her cool off before covering !

It was warmer than that when I was up there for work on Thursday, but with the snow you guys had before & the crap they put on the roads for it, not sure i would want to drive much till after spring rains wash streets clean of that crap. People from southern states have no clue how much that stuff eats cars (metal parts on ours) My buddy has 2006 pickup in California that is perfect. In Minnesota you could get in a 2006 without opening the door LOL
i live in Iowa and mine is about ready to go to sleep too. We have not had enough for them to put the crap down yet, but it is coming.
Always a sad time of year, car-wise. Both of my toys got detailed, oil changes, some extra air in the tires, and plugged-in for their long winter naps almost a month ago.
Years ago a few guy's at work that collect cars and many are stored in warehouses said to use Irish Spring soap as the mice that might try to get into vehicles hate the smell and taste of soap. They said it works better than dryer sheets. So I use soap on floor area dryer sheets in glove box and console where it would be messy to use soap. So far no problems with mice over the past years of storing a car. Plus car smells great in spring !

Welcome mats under the tires? And you put 5 pounds of air into each, bringing them to 35?
Why, modern radial tires don't get flat spots, at least none that won't work themselves out with a trip around the block. Now you can destroy C2/C3 bias ply tires by letting them sit too long.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
