I park in R with the brake on. Old habit. Be aware that if you park in R, the screen won't roll down (so rear camera can be displayed)..
I've been parking all of my Vettes with the e-brake on and in reverse. On the C3s, you couldn't remove the key from the ignition (on the steering column) without putting the gear shift into reverse first. I guess old habits die hard!
Why? I always put mine in First and set the e-brake. When I start it, I leave it in first. You have to push in the clutch to start it anyway, so why put it in neutral?
Mostly because I usually just start the car and let it run before I take off as I’m usually plugging in my phone, etc. Plus I back out of my garage. If I start the car and forget to move back to neutral, the car will stall out after I release the clutch since I’m not giving it any throttle.
BS! I always park with the car in reverse and the parking brake on... except in my garage where I just park in reverse, no pb.
I do it exactly that way. On a level surface the parking brake is not necessary if you're in 1st or reverse, but I set it to maintain a habit pattern in case I should accidentally leave it out of gear.
This tieing seat movement to the parking brake is one of the things that bug me about the C7. Can't we be trusted to do anything? It seems there are lots of other interlocks also that should not be needed.
once in the spot put the parking brake on in neutral, then let off the pedal brake so that the load is on the parking brake. Turn off the car, then put in the gear of your choice.
i prefer to not load the driveline when not needed. In gear is the way, but it’s the backup plan not the primary.
At first, when parked in my garage, I just set the e-brake and kept it in neutral. Now I’m getting in the habit of leaving it in first gear. I just need to remember to make sure I shift to neutral before starting the car.
Right. I do that since I have to press both the clutch and brake to start the car, so I need to remember to shift back to neutral since I usually let the car warm up a little before backing out and taking off.
Always put it in Reverse and e -brake on.
I forgot to use the e-brake once. Pushed in the clutch to start the Corvette, looked up and couldn't figure out why the Lexus parked next to the Corvette in our garage was going forward. It wasn't. Last time I made that mistake. Always use e-brake when parked.

I do essentially the same thing, but I just push the clutch in as I come to a stop (I'm in first or reverse anyway). Set the e-brake. Turn off the car, let off the brake pedal and then release the clutch.
Unless I'm on a incline/decline I just leave it in 1st gear no brake. Been doing this several years and never had an issue. Eastern NC so everything is flat here. I just wish someone would make a parking brake simulator to make the steering wheel go up upon shutting the car off without the parking brake. My seat is always in full back position anyway.
The issue you will have is if you want seat recall to work when you get back in the car.
I really don't understand the issue here. Sure you could not put it into any gear and even not put on the e-brake if you're on a flat surface. However, aside from just forgetting, what exactly is the cons of putting it in gear and engaging the e-brake?
