Just received my 2019 GS M7. Have not had a manual in probably 20 years and when dealer was going over the car with me he said it should be parked in neutral with e brake on. I used to always park the car and leave in 2nd gear and not use a brake. I had never really even thought about it but does it really matter if you park in gear or neutral, or use brake or not?
I just leave mine in gear. (usually 1st) and never use the parking brake. I might use the parking brake if the car was on any sort of incline, but where I drive in the Phoenix area is pretty level.
If you live in Florida and believe the earth is flat then probably not much. If you live or travel in Wva or Colorado, yeah it matters. Not only can you lose your new vette in a heartbeat if it accidentally pops out of gear, but you could possibly kill someone too.
"Parking (Manual Transmission)
Warning
If the vehicle has a manual transmission, never get out of the vehicle without first moving the shift lever into 1st or R (Reverse),
setting the parking brake and turning the ignition off. The vehicle can roll, which could cause serious injury or death."
Pretty straight forward. Think about seeing another dealer?
Thanks. Guess I will try to get used to using the parking brake. I do live in Florida which is probably why I never thought of using it. Not many hills around Clearwater / Tampa.
I park my 2015 in reverse, as I do with my other manual transmission cars.
The only time my parking brake is used, is during the state safety and emission inspections.
My 69 Camaro Z28 required me to park in reverse to activate the locking steering wheel. Some early Corvettes needed to be in reverse when parked to minimize amp draws. Out of force of habit I have always parked in reverse with the parking brake on. Since I always park in my garage I put in reverse with brake since I will be backing out when I leave. I do the same when parking in public since 90% the time I am backing up to leave the space. Not sure if my procedure is right or wrong, but it works for me.

Congratulations on the new GS.
Then when you get in and start the car it probably never moves to your preferred seating position (assuming you set that up).
As said put it in gear. Also if you have the memory seats make sure to set park brake. Otherwise the memory function won’t work for easy exit.
Correction: For easy entry. Easy exit works just fine. It's when you re-enter the car later and start it, the car will not move the seat to your preferred setting. Dumb really as it was a perfect opportunity for the car to automatically set the e-brake on easy exit.

I've always been told this by friends/family and driving instructors so it's what I do. Never had a problem.
