Default 2019 bumper paint issues

We are trying to decide on a 19 Z06 or wait on the C8. We have seen a bunch of posts about the bumper fit and paint issues. Last Friday we stopped by Boardwalk Chevy. They had 44 c7s in all colors in a indoor building. My wife and I checked out all 44 and not a one paint issue on the front and back bumpers. We are unable to verify cracked or bent rims or 8 speed auto issues LOL. I read so many complaints about all 3 of these problems and I know all 19s don't have them. I just wanted to share our bumper findings on the 44 cars we looked at.

I think you meant to post in C7 Gen.

Thank you for reporting your observations.

Yes, some late production 2018's and the 2019's were painted in the new paint factory. Don't quote me on this, but I think the exposed carbon hoods are painted offsite.

That said, my early production 2019 has two very minor blemishes and a small crack by the side vent. You'd need the Hubble telescope to seem them though.

The bumper paint issue more than likely won't happen until the car is driven for a while, so unfortunately you won't know if it is going to happen to a particular car until after you purchase it. After the car is driven for a while is when the panels may rub together which is what causes the paint to chip. Supposedly the new paint process and panel fitment is better, but there have still been posts about the paint peeling bumper issue on 2019's..

Unless you capture a bent wheel issue or the A8 issue on a test drive, you won't know about that until after you buy it either. The C7 issues are known, but with the C8 being a brand new model the potential issues are TBD, so only time will tell which model will have less issues.
