Default Cracked windshield

I have a tiny hairline crack in my windshield. Do dealerships replace windshield? I really don't want to get stuck with a piece of crap windshield.

Get with your local SafeLite and, if you have comprehensive coverage (with a low deductible), let insurance cover it. OEM winshield with HUD is around a grand

Lots of threads here including my own..Safelite is recommended. if it’s small enough it can be repaired by your insurance co for free..if is too large then replacement needed..

The dealer will farm it out to a glass shop and charge you extra..

I had a short crack from Pass Side A Pillar to Roof AND Delamination along the Top Edge - A Dealer replaced the Windshield under Warranty because of the Delamination - it would not have been covered if it were the crack alone.

The Windshield was an OEM Part, but the Installer did a less than stellar job; I now have a leak neither the Dealer nor Installer will now address - it was 'looked' at by both and deemed 'satisfactory'.

I would absolutely escalate that, starting with the Regional SM and higher if necessary

I was worried about the same thing. Had Safelite do mine and it’s as good as new. Just make sure to get OEM. Especially if you have HUD. If you have rain sensing wipers make sure they order the correct OEM. There are evidently 2 different ones as they received the wrong one the first time I made the appointment.

I would probably have a company like Safelite do the work - they do windshield replacements day in and day out whereas the dealer may do a few a year.

When I had mine replaced by Safelite, they mentioned that it was a rain-sensing windshield, which made no sense to me, as there is no such capability in the C7, AFAIK. But, evidently, I was not the only one told this.

Safelite also guarantees that their work is perfect, so insisting on an OE windshield makes no sense even with a HUD. It could make a $500 + difference out of pocket, depending on your insurance co. and age of car. If the windshield isn't optically pure, then have them do it over.

I stand corrected about the sensing wipers. I guess they didn’t know what they were talking about. As for the HUD I’ve heard of people having trouble when they went with a different windshield than OEM.

Which is why one should ALWAYS go with OEM glass

I had safelite install a GMC windshield after they attempted twice to replace my cracked one with not one but both defective new ones. Both windshield had delamination/ bubbles visible in upper blackened areas. Also state of CT calls for zero cost replacement on windshield glass.
