The 7M Corvettes don't need it because the car won't go into V4 unless you have the drive mode set to "ECO" and are driving at a steady speed. I keep my car in "TOURING" or "SPORT" to avoid having the issue.
I bought the Range device for my girlfriend's C7 because hers has the 8A in it. I will install it this weekend and let you all know how well it works.
Does the ‘19 GS A8 go into V4 mode in touring mode? I thought it only went into V4 when in eco mode.
The A8 will go into v4 in all modes, unless you move the console shifter to M position for manual shifting. No V4 in any mode if the shifter is in M, except Eco - it will go into V4 in Eco mode even with the shifter in M.
From the 2019 Owners manual:
Normal with automatic transmission: The engine uses 8-cylinder mode when accelerating, but changes to 4-cylinder mode when coasting.
With manual transmission: Active Fuel Management only active in Eco Mode.
Off in Manual Mode with automatic transmission unless in Eco Mode.
Eco keeps the engine in 4-cylinder mode unless heavy acceleration is needed
How do you know when it goes in and out of V4-V8 and visa versa.? Is there an indicator on the dash? Is it only a feel when it happens?
There is a post that mentions there is a dash display you can use to see the indicator thats shows if it's in 4 or 8 mode. It's doable but I don't have the instruction handy.

Its in the information mode (the top mode on the left hand side when you bring the modes up) bring that mode up on your center display, then its the 3rd screen down. The icon/color will change from V8/yellow to V4/green when it goes into V4 mode.

The A8 cars will go into four-cylinder mode pretty much anytime. The engine's computer will sense a light load and activate it. The 7M cars are the only Corvettes that have it set up so that the four-cylinder mode only works in the ECO setting.
I was referring to my MANUAL car, which is set up so that the computer will only choose four cylinders if it is in ECO mode.
My girlfriend's A8 was dropping into 4-cylinder mode almost constantly. Now that I bought her a Range device, it stays in V8 all of the time. If you have a C7 with the A8, do yourself a favor and get the new Range device. You will not be disappointed at all.
It is hard to say, as we have not driven the car very often, but it seems as though "average" fuel economy is down about 1.5 miles per gallon on her A8 Stingray since I installed the Range device. Definitely more than a fair trade-off. Just the fun factor alone is worth keeping it in A8 constantly. The Stingray is not supposed to be a Prius.
