Default Maybe Reverse the Direction of the Fan?????

But yes OP, that is about the only way it could work better. but the air really just blows around you as you compress the holes in the seat with your body.. the "sucking" air away into the seat is the only way to effective have vented seats just not in this car.

hey Jack, hope that clears up why they seem to work and then fade out.
Hmmmm.... Just thinking then..... might it be possible to reverse the direction of the fan? Do you think that might work better?

BTW if I read correctly the 1LT in the C8 includes heated seats. You need 2LT for ventilated.

As a 1LT C7 owner none of this makes any difference to me, but it would be nice if the ventilation actually worked om 2LT.

A big point is what the OP said, Cold air needs to be coming from the bottom vents for the ventilated seats to do the job.
I also agree they seem to work fine at first and then don't seem to be working after a while.
But, they're working just fine because I notice even though it doesn't feel like the seats are still cooling, I notice I'm not sweating in the seat.
Anytime you don't think they're working that great, shut them off and you'll soon see the difference

I think that's because the AC works by two methods: cooler air and drier air. So initially it dries the skin in contact with the seat, then the effect diminishes as the skin dries out.

Have a good one,
Mike

Works good on my 2014, don’t have to turn it down from the high setting, but I am always aware of it cooling.

Probably wouldn't miss it if was gone, and unlikely I'd pick it alone from a list of options, but is a "nice to have" as part of the 2LT package.

Yes, the ventilated seats are basically personal swamp coolers (or swamp-***-coolers ).

They work by evaporative means. Three basic considerations come into play with a forth.

1. Ambient cabin temp (especially floor).
2. Relative humidity.
3, Moisture on skin and clothing.

4. Thickness of clothing also makes a difference. Wear jeans and don't expect much. Wear leggings (and, yes, I know most of you don't have the luxury nor would you be caught dead in them anyway), but they work pretty damn well ( and are easy on the seats).

This is the number one reason why some folks notice an initial cooling effect, and awhile later, notice nothing,

Side note: rented a Mustang Convertible that had A/C seats a couple of weeks ago in NM, and they were not better than my '14 when I drove it out to NM. Surprised me; I thought the AC seats would freeze my behind off, but, nope, sadly. I don't know if they would perform better vs. ventilated seats in a higher humidity area, but in NM they didn't perform better than the ventilated seats of the C7.

Worst cooled seats ever. Every other car I've had the seats were actually air conditioned. Why not save the weight and just leave the fans out. It works ok if the car has been in the garage and not running for a bit. After that first time per day, its over. They are useless at that point, borderline worse by blowing hot air out of the seat.

I use them, and I like them. Keeping cold A/C air partially directed at the floor vents helps a lot. Let's not overthink this.

We live at the edge of the Sonoran desert in southern UT. The "cooling" seats are great...and work well in our new 2019 Stingray Z51--3LT. It has been 100-112 degrees in the afternoon for a couple months.

Is there any way to upgrade the fan? After 90K miles of seat time, I think the foam is compressed perhaps and the air doesn't pass through. I can hear the fans whirring but very little air comes through. The passenger seat, which never has an occupant ventilates so much better. I don't want to replace the foam or seat. Maybe someone has upgraded the fan?

Default Aftermarket fan?

Stupid question: did someone ever change the fan or mecanism with an aftermarket one or something home made?

I have owned my 2015 for 4 years now. The only good thing I have found about the Ventilated Seat feature is that the perforations in the leather will keep the *** sweat from puddling in the seat.

They work off of sweat. When you first get in and turn on the seats, the blowers seem cool because they are blowing on the moisture and cooling you down. As your body dries off they are less effective. It's not like a true HVAC vent, but it helps a little bit initially.

I have to agree. My C7 is the first car I have owned that has ventilated seats. I tried them, and to me at least, they helped. But I did turn them to high.
