Like most cars, C7s do not have actual "cooled seats" that actually use air conditioning. They use a fan that blows air.
I see some people saying their ventilated seats are not effective, so here are some tips to get the most out of them: Once you get the cabin cooled down, turn the A/C on low, turn on the vents that point to the floor and turn the ventilated seats on. They will bring the cold air from the floor into the seat. Super awesome experience. Borrowed a friend's C7Z about a month ago for a 6 hour drive. Did that and it was amazing.
Even better is so select the air flow option that blows air through the high vents and the floor vents at the same time. No need to switch anything other than to hit the ventilated seat button.

this is the way I've run the A/C in pretty much all my cars for years. Mainly because having it all blow out the dash vents freezes your hands while the rest of you melts.
Still the ventilated seats only feel like they are actually cooling you off for about 10 minutes. Maybe because they move all the cold floor air out in that amount of time? Or is it because the floor of the car gets hot due the exhaust running under it? Either way I'm not impressed by them. And I have no idea what the different settings are for because if they are not on full (3 bars) they might as well be off. Unlike the A/C I've never thought wow this is so cold I need to turn it down to avoid frost bite!
Mine suck ***. I've tried the split vent method etc. In the last few days I kept thinking I had the heated seats on...of course it's been 102-109 here for the past couple of months and by mid August I get cranky...

I didn't mean to imply this makes solves the problem of them being worthless, it just makes them slightly less worthless. One lesson I learned is that on my next vette I'm getting a 1LT.

Yep mine are the same way regardless of how I set the AC. I wish during the winter I could run heated and ventilated at the same time.
You want to know why they suck?? Because they "blow"
the ventilated seats in the corvette for some unknown god forsaken reason blow air instead of suck the air away from your body like every other single vehicle that has them on the market... thanks LEAR... when the seats are so that they "pull" air in, it sucks the moisture and humidity off of your clothes and body giving you that chilling effect.. they work so good in full size GM vehicles i have to turn them down, same as my work vehicle which is a grand new grand cherokee... so dumb.. whoever was in charge of that aspect really dropped the ball. hopefully it's fixed on the C8.
But yes OP, that is about the only way it could work better. but the air really just blows around you as you compress the holes in the seat with your body.. the "sucking" air away into the seat is the only way to effective have vented seats just not in this car.
hey Jack, hope that clears up why they seem to work and then fade out.

Mine work fairly well for a while then the effect seems to diminish. But, they still give some comfort which helps.
One more tip. Check under the seats. ANY obstruction, a piece of carpet sticking up, a piece of paper the fell under the seat, factory plastic sheeting, will stop the air flow from reaching the under side of the seat.
I mention this because the ventilated seats in my 2014 are fantastic. I put the A/C vents on the split, top/bottom setting, then put the seat fan on high and the seat becomes too cold within 10 minutes. I have to turn it down to the middle setting to be comfortable, sometimes the low setting. They work perfectly.
I can be critical of cars with ventilated seats that don't work. Our Lexus RX350 is supposed to have ventilated seats, but they are a joke. On a good day, if I block off the A/C from flowing to the rear seats, maybe I can feel a little cooling, maybe not. My wife laughs because she swears it makes no difference.
But our Vette's ventilated seats are outstanding.
I here a lot of complaints about the ventilated seats, but mine will freeze both mine and my wife's bottoms off. I turn mine on when the cars hot inside, and usually have to turn it off within a little while to stay comfortable. She never uses it.
I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but of us are slim.

the seats use the 'cabin' air, and once your body has gotten accustomed to cooler air the affect will diminish, but it still works.

Well if it diminishes to the point where I can't feel it then I consider that not working. Basically the effect is underwhelming and temporary
I've got the suede microfiber seats, so maybe the leather ones cool better?
