CC is definitely worth the cost and sweat for diy route (the effort far exceeds the cost when comparing the two in my eyes) but it is worth every penny. Lots of brands out there you can use, I'm a fan personally of Carpro lineup, Gyeon and Gtechniq.
PPF is a personal choice if it is worth it or not, personally to me it is not, but it will cut down on rock chips if that is a concern
How is it a cash grab? your using the spray, yet the coating is a cash grab? That does not make sense.
Guessing his point is(and it's not real hard to grasp) is that a DIY bottle for <$100 gets you a GREAT look, that the Ceramic detail shops would lead you believe you need to spend $1500-$2500 with them to get a great look.
I recently did the Raptor as a test case before the Vettes.
used Adam’s latest Graphene coating with the UV light. It came out awesome!
Note: Full prep with decontamination and swirl removal is required first.
I tried the previous Adam’s graphene coating on a leased i3s. What I learned from that experience is three things:
1) Must be a warm day (high 60s or 70s) in the garage
2) Use a pro applicator with a moisture barrier (not the suede foam one Adam’s provides).
3) Use pro leveling towels designed for removing coatings. They are throw aways after using the 8 surfaces.

His point was that ceramic coating is a money grab, he never stated having it professionally done is a cash grab which I agree with. He was stating he uses a spray ceramic, which do work but do not work nearly as well as actually manually laying it down. Not really sure why your insinuating I'm an idiot who missed his point since he stated nothing about professional jobs are cash grabs.
My 2016 C7 Z-51 M7 is 6 years old with 10K miles it is not a daily driver. And does not sit outside. Never been driven in the rain. It was snowed on one time at a car show. I work at a Auto Body / Towing / Recovery Shop see no need for paint correction ( the pain is thin enough ). And that is why i will spend 20.00 for a bottle of Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray and save 1500 to 2000 bucks for other things !!
I vote for Xpel. Not only do I get questioned about what wax I use (which I don't) but it already saved my car. Someone backed into me in a parking lot. Pushed the mirror back. The film on the corner of the mirror got messed up and there was a tiny scratch in the paint. Bodyshop buffed it out. Xpel on the mirror was replaced. There were also marks on the door where he brushed against it. Those wiped off without a scratch.
Paint correction, PPF and ceramic coating. I'm happy with the results and way easier to take care of it now. Just waterless wash with microfiber towels. During my last trip I was able to clean my car at the hotel. Simple and convenient with a piece of mind that the PPF is providing a layer of protection.
As was mentioned here, ceramic coating is great paint protection, but does nothing for stones and other debris. My experience with XPEL has been amazing…

I do not understand why this constantly gets brought up. Ceramic was never intended as a paint protection method. It is the new age polish/wax. Sure it has some protective properties but it is never going to work as a PPF, just just PPF is never going to do anything for the gloss/shine of your car (unless you use matte film look). They are completely different products.
Bought my '19 GS vert with a full body clear bra already installed (surprise!). Treated her to this "synthetic protectant" from Zaino called Z-CS Clear Seal. Wiped on sparingly and let it dry. Period. You don't need all the multi-stage products they also carry. 12 oz. bottle was about $40.00. Amazing shine for the clear bra I would have been too cheap to pay for myself! (7K estimate in CA).
Spit and polished. Synthetic spit!

You're absolutely correct. They are completely different products. It often comes up in conversations with fellow car enthusiasts actually. It's amazing how many people are unaware and think ceramic coating is similar.

Ceramic okay for those who want less maintenance, but it never has the depth of shine that wax creates albeit with much more upkeep. Ceramic very shiny.. just limits depth . Waxed cars exhibit more "pop" than ceramic cars.

I've found it to depend on the colour, certain colours ceramic or ceramic with a topper are both shine and depth, where other colours like you say wax > than ceramic. Darker colours seem to do better with waxes I've noticed, but then I recently cut my BRM wax and did ceramic and feel it is both shine and depth.
Metallic paints should never be coated, wax will really bring depth coatings just cannot achieve. Some flatter colors may not have any depth to bring out, so I agree there are colors that don't make mush difference

How long does that Turtle Wax ceramic spray last compared to, say, paste wax?
