It is easy to tune out but that kills any warranty that you have on the drivetrain. Out of warranty, it is a simple matter to tell CAGS that you need to be doing 300 MPH and 10,000 RPM for it to activate. Put that in your tune and the CAGs is dead and the 1-4 light never comes on again. I did that to my C6 when I put the Edelbrock SC on it. In warranty, just plug in the CAGs bypass unit and CAGs will stop but you will see the 1-4 light.

Skip shift goes away when rpms are high enough to bypass it. Just use your right foot and proceed to 2nd gear. Problem solved
Yes, we know that. So in bumper to bumper traffic, your solution to not having the CAGs bother you is to step on the gas pedal with your right foot. That sounds like an ominous solution that could adjust the front of your car.
For $20 and 10 minutes, it can be a topic never discussed again in driving under any conditions.
I suppose the OP now knows that you can put an eliminator in a C7, but that you don't have to, but that you may like it, but that if you drive it the right way, you don't need it, but that you can override it wth a tune, yada yada yada. I've been on this forum for 15 years and still don't understand the response people provide instead of answering a question.
Anyway, yes, the eliminator works the same way in the C7 as in the C5/C6. I put the same one from my C5 into my C6, and would've put it the same one in my C7 but somehow the adds made the thing look slightly different...so I just bought a new one. To all the naysayers, try turning left behind another car, and end up in the "sour spot" right when you want to shift into 2nd,, and end up breaking your momentum with a car behind you expecting you to continue at speed. Sure, you can rev higher each time, but why think about it, as others have said. Easy to do yourself, too, although the C7 presents a tougher location than the C5 and C6.
Exactly, there are plenty of times where traffic or somesuch makes holding 1st impractical or ruins one's plan to just "use your right foot". I finally got an eliminator a few months ago. Works great no downside. Just be careful to get all the heat shielding in place when installing.

I have one from a previous C5. Are you saying that it won't plug in to the C7 I'm buying Thursday?

I went from a C5 to a C7...checking at the time I got the C7 it seemed that it required a different variation of the unit from previous generations. They're so inexpensive that it doesn't really matter.

Thanks RFH928,
I'm picking up my new to me C7 Thursday in Baltimore and driving all the way back to Seattle. So I'm hoping the skip shift doesn't irritate me for 3000 miles on my trip home.

Wow...that's quite a nice long drive all right! A buddy of mine has had a C4 for 30 years and never bothered to install the module. You get used to it very quickly and if you see the 1-4 message appear on the dash, you just have to give it a touch more gas & it'll bypass it. I can't be bothered having to think about this constantly so love the module...but for your drive home I'm sure it won't bother you too much until you can get the proper unit installed. Have a great ride!
