Default First C7 test drive

I have been looking on the interweb for C7s for a while now. Wife told me to go test drive a 2019 Vert to see if I liked it. I drove a C6 but never a C7. She wanted me to see how getting in and out of it was. Salesman would not let my wife ride with me. Said he had to go. So I was a little upset the wife couldn't go. And he brought up the wrong car. I asked for a base 2LT and he got a 1LT. So I was kind of pissed. But I drove it anyway. I liked it but it opened my eyes to a few things.
  • I'm 5' 8" 200 pounds and it was tight. I drive with the seat all the way back. I could live with the Vette but I don't see how you taller brothers do it. It was as small as the R8 I drove.
  • The base road pretty soft which is what I was looking for. Much smoother than my Mustang GT. I could see adding sway bars down the road.
  • The 1LT radio was not a bad as you guys made it seem. It's not the best but I could add a sub and be fine.
  • The touch screen on the radio is ***. Chevy needs to catch up with the tech.
  • Riding with the top down was nice. Wind noise was minimal on a fall day in Michigan. Road noise was not bad as expected either.
  • The car seemed buggy. It was stuck in demo mode, then transport mode. I let the top down and it said it was completed. Then when we rode it started beeping saying the top wasn't down all the way. I had to hold the button again.
  • The salesman was nice but he didn't know jack about the Vette.

The 1LT was $63000 and the 2LT was $67000 with the employee discount. Too much. I can do better at Les Stanford, Kerbeck, or Criswell. I'm going to move forward and find a used C7 Vert. I don't think new is the right move for me. Thanks for all the posts and info. It's just the beginning.

Good luck in your search. Plenty of gently used C7s out there at significant savings over new.

Good luck!! I just bought on Saturday a 2014 Z51 3LT with 15,000 miles and couldnt be happier. You can find some great used ones out there. Mine is in mint condition, Not even a rock chip on the car and the interior looks brand new and even somehow still has the new car smell in it. So keep searching, you will find the "One".

But yes, I am 5'7 and over 200lbs and the bolsters make it a snug fit but its okay lol. Its a Corvette, I will live!! haha

As for size, I'm 6', 145# and it is perfect for me... without the seat fully back! Size is so individual, in terms of distribution, proportions, and expectations that each and everyone needs to "try on" any and every sports car I've ever seen, driven, and/or owned. Personal reports are of limited usefulness, imho.

And, as for "...somehow still has the new car smell..." You do realize that has come in a aerosol can for years, right?
