I find that the Apple CarPlay feature is inconsistent. At times, wit my IPhone plugged in, the Projection logo on the display does not change to CarPlay. When it does, many times my Amazon Prime Music Playlist either does not display of only a small number of the files display for selection. Seems the system leaves much to be desired. Comments, suggestions?
I use it on my 19 Z06. My issue with my iPhone is I have a new plug and it works when I first get in the car and put my destination in. But my plug does not fit really good into my iPhone because I have had my phone for quite sometime and if you bump the plug it loses it’s connection. I’m going to do a test soon on my next road trip with my wife’s new iPhone. I have 7plus. She has the new XSmax. Going to see if it makes a difference with connection.
clean the connector on the iphone- sometimes the receptacle gets clogged w dust and dirt and the plug isnt able to sit properly
Great suggestion. The lightning connector is a great place for lint and dust to gather, then it gets pushed in there whenever you plug in to charge. Eventually it causes problems. Fix; Find a wooden toothpick, hold your phone up with the lighting port facing down. Poke around a bit, gently, moving it back and forth. I'm always amazed at how much lint and dust gets stuck in there. Weirdly, if clogged up it may charge just fine but not work well for anything that requires a data connection. Worth a try.

Car Play is buggy, this with my '16 head unit reflashed with the latest software summer of '17. I use an official Apple, purchased from Apple, 3 foot cable. Most of the time, if I plug it in and then unlock the phone, it works properly. A significant number of times though, I'll have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to 'register' and work properly.
Does anyone know if the GMEPP warranty covers updating the software for the head unit???
I would think so...I have another warranty company, just had my radio controller, infotainment screen and HMI module replaced, over 2k of work, it was all covered by my extended warranty.
I deal with stuff like this all the time at my shop. You want to use an unfrayed genuine Apple cable. Or if you must use aftermarket, make sure it says MFI certified. And of course, lint builds up in the phone too, so be sure to check that.
Well I don't have a Apple phone but I use a music player on my Android phone and have loaded albums to the phone from my computer !!! The player only plays 1 album at a time !!! So can't you put a music player on your phone and use bluetooth access to play music once your phone is paired !!! Wayne
