The spring rates don't magically change, those are set. If it has adjustable shocks, their bound/rebound rates can be changed which can affect the stiffness and handling, otherwise those rates are designed into the shock and don't change.

Steering firmness is the first thing you'll notice, as that can be changed electronically.

Thanks for the clarification. I just figured the Corvette had adjustable shocks even on the base model, what with all their settings between tour and track. I thought you could stiffen the ride depending on your likes and intended use. I understand the magnetic particle shocks are the best as they outperform most other types of shocks. Here is a little article explaining the electronically adjustable shock many manufacturers use. Maybe this is what I was thinking of.
