Well when i woke up and went to wipe the car down, I saw it. MF! Its not a big hit, but its there and to top it off I had just gotten XPEL applied.

So here I am, called USAA and they issued a check to a collision center that I know is very good.

So with your storehouse of wisdom, What are some questions I need to ask?
Will the paint color match completely?

Thanks in advance

Chief

Couldn’t resist but seriously. Your collision center will put her back like new. I would ask if they will bag [cover]the rest of the car to prevent other scratches, dings, etc.. whilevin their shop.. I wonder if the hotel had any video of the parking lot bandit..it would be nice if they caught them and then you could possibly get reimbursed for your deductible.

Maybe it's the reflection but I don't see anything that couldn't be buffed out. If so, I wouldn't bother filing a claim.

Since you stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, you should be able to fix it yourself!

I don’t mean to be rude, but if that is the way you park, you are just asking for trouble.

^^^
Damned rude reply considering there is nobody else, except for the one person who park next to him, in the parking lot.

I don’t condone violence but I understand why it happens! That has happened to me twice with two different Corvettes. Now I do not park where someone can park in front of me.

I know this is an unsolicited response, but this shot only gives me the thought that you are just asking for trouble. Ive been a corvette owner for 55 years, and a Corvette designer. I'm not looking to bash you, just give you my opinion.. parking like this almost pisses me off and I'm on your side.. Imagine how many non corvette people , jealous people, immature people, cowards would see this and try to let you know in anyway they feel they can get away with , that your car is not special to them and that you are the ******* for parking like an *******.. ( a little tough I know, and I apologize ) But I hope I can appeal to you before someone else gets to you in a much more in your face way.

No one goes out of their way to back into you or anyone.. Corvettes are low.. ( its no excuse ) But this stuff happens when people who do not pay attention, cause these problems. Learning how to park smart, will help lessen the possibility of something like this happening in the future.. .. If you can predetermine all of the " what If's " when you choose a parking spot, chances are you wont have a problem.. There are much safer place in most parking lots... I call them premo spots.

Parking smart :
Some considerations.
would a run away shopping cart get to you because you are in a low spot in the parking lot shopping carts run down hill
can some one get to your front facia..( its low and not easily seen in a rearview mirror.
Can you park in a place that will protect at least one side.
Dont park next to a 2 door car
Consider what a gust of wind would do to your car's door when you open it or, someone's door next to you.
Dont make your car appear to be special. ( too many jealous people.)
Try to park next to a car that has as much to lose or more than your car. ( Nicer car )
If you park in the most convenient sport.. Some others might will rush to park next to you in the next most convenient spot, with no consideration for the car next to them because they are in a hurry.
I can usually park in a spot that I am comfortable with, but if I cant , I wont park.. No dings on any of my cars in well over 30 years.. Parking smart.
OH yes, there is a certain amount of luck involved here also.. but getting a good safe spot ( Not out in the boonies ) will increase your luck.

Just a few consideration before just choosing the next available spot.

Default Upside Is This

Our C6 got rear ended 3 times in 15 months. It was a target for dummies. And what did we learn? It is fixable and done right impossible to tell it ever happened. So lighten up on the heartbreak. It is a car not a shrine.

Both times I got backed into the spot were very big, there was plenty of room, I made sure of that. I saw it happen both times and confronted them. The back of one guy’s car was all scratched up, he clearly did this on a regular base. He illegally parked, and he had the F’n nerve to deny that he hit my new vette. The other guy also denied he hit me but I saw it also and he finally admitted he hit me when I pointed out plastic on he’s trucks 2” receiver from my car. All kinds of a’wholes and haters. Both of their insurance paid up.

I always park way out in the North 40 myself, in any of my vehicles, not just my ZO6, but parking across 3 spots like that you're just asking for some ******* to "teach that Corvette ***** a lesson" and either vandalize or block you in so close you can't get in the car. I'm not saying it's right, just saying that there ae jerks out there that delight in f'ing with a nice car parked alone. Saw a spotless C6 Grand Sport convertible a few weeks ago, he had parked diagonally across 3 spots right next to a busy restaurant while inside eating dinner, he came out and was freaking out that some ******* had dumped a couple Big Gulp Cokes all over his Velocity Yellow car, inside and out. What a mess, but doing what he did obviously pissed somebody off, just sayin'.

Sorry to see that happen to your ride. When your car is repaired it will likely show up the CARFAX for your car. Check out the threads on diminished value to see if the insurance company will payout that amount too.

Back in the C6 era I found a C6 parked as you have parked. Guy was the assistant manager of a Home Depot. I happened to catch the owner and I warned him that he was just asking for someone to damage his car. He made some smart-assed remark and I said, "Your car."

A few days later I saw his car and it looked as if a rake had been run down the driver's side..... as I said, "Your car."

Oh, and one other comment - No, Bob, you weren't a CPO - you were an E7 - a Chief Petty Officer would not park like that....

That so called smuck is driving a nice SUV & most certainly parks far away for the same reasons all of us do.....avoiding door dings.
Apparently in your world you're the only one entitled to do that.
Not to mention he's parked properly in a single space. Unlike that smuck driving the Corvette.
