there should be a millenial tax on young drivers =D kid in the ford clearly was most of the cause. hopefully all ends well. be sure to stretch, the back muscles are easily tweaked. thats nothing you wanna mess with..
That really sucks! Commiserations!
Glad you weren't hurt.
NJ drivers, well, what can I say, I live here and can't defend most of them
Drivers here in Canada aren't much better my friend Sorry to hear about this...Inbetween my 3 Vette's over the past 30 years, I had a Porsche 928 (needed a back seat for my 2 young kids at the time...)...spent 5 years totally restoring it to new condition while using it as my daily driver...just as everything inside & outside was done, a teenager borrowing her parents' brand new Nissan went illegally into an intersection and totaled it. Insurance settlement provided a down payment on my 98 Vette. Good luck!
Must have been the NJT or Garden State Pkwy...........Whenever I drive to NY I hate that turnpike and it's exits. Glad you're ok though........2020 sounds like a plan.
I grew up in Livingston, Mountain Lakes and Montville and got my Bachelors from good ole Rutgers (watch the highlight of their loss to Boston College as the RU lineman was so excited they scored a touchdown he punched the QB right in the kisser).
I've been rear-ended not once, not twice but SIX TIMES, from slow rollers at 5mph to an 18 wheeler doing 90 while I was doing 65, twice in Vettes (one old lady took off after dinging me at a stop light).
A. Make sure you follow up with a doctor. It took weeks for symptoms to began to manifest themselves but I ended up having my neck fused a year after the one that caused my initial discomfort. Not that
you will but back/spinal/joint concerns can take some time to show up
B. Make sure you pursue and are compensated for DIMINISHED VALUE. In this day and age (Carfax) recorded accidents/repairs clearly are kept and your car will lose real money. The last time I had to deal
with this was driving my wife to the doctor in our '13 Prius. Rear ended by car doing 5 MPH. Ended up needing a new rear bumper and I followed up and found the car would lose about 1000 bucks in resale. So
I called their insurance company (Progressive I think, been 3 years) and was immediately transferred to someone who deals with that. We negotiated and I accepted a (lesser) check for 750 bucks (saved time
and forms) and I had it within one week outside of the money to repair the Prius. Diminished value is real and measurable, don't let it slide.
Good luck; be healthy and get back to enjoying your C7

Ramp from I-78 west to GSP (exit 52). It was my favorite until yesterday. About two years ago in almost the same spot I had a close call with a tailgater. He skidded while I was able to get out of harms way. Didn’t happen that way this time. The sight no one ever wants to see...
that's $15k+ damage,,and you and passenger need to go see a doctor ''RIGHT NOW'',,AND IF NOT TOTALED , you need to go find a ''diminished value'' lawyer
That sucks man, glad you're not injured. Hope all is good with the car, but there's a lot of hardware behind that rear bumper. Gotta keep those Blade Silver C7's healthy, I have a Blade Silver Z06 coupe myself.
My z51 just got totalled from a rear end collision. My car looked WAAAAAAAAAAY worse. I mean, everything behind the seats was destroyed. The insurance company barely totalled it because there is so much $ on the front half of the car. This is very far from totalled. Hell my battery was 10 ft away from the car. This was estimated to be 20k. Likely actual amount was 25k after really digging in.

It's not totalled. And I don't think it's that much in damages. Doesn't look like much behind the bumper cover was damaged. Maybe some stuff shifted. See picture with bumper cover off below for reference..there's not much down there in the middle.

Sorry for your loss, did the bakery truck get the ticket so that his insurance will pay? wishing you a speedy return to the road.
The ticket is for a violation of the law, but the insurance company determines fault for their purposes ticket or not.though a ticket may help the insurance decide

He went to the hospital. Going to your doctor doesn't count. Hospital, always.
If your car is totaled can you get the tax money back as well? I paid the fine state of GA over $9k when I bought my car, it would be a huge kick in the junk if I had to eat that.
Just came back from the body shop. They won’t get my car until later today. We looked at the pictures and discussed what happened. When I told them and the adjuster my air bags did not engage, both said that’s good. But the GM strike could prolong any repair. The shop said just from looking at the pictures, if there’s no issues beneath the surface...about three weeks.
Also waiting until the inspection before renting a loaner car. I could dive right in and get one through my insurance company, but a recent experience with my wife’s truck when she was hit by a driver leaving a parking lot, it was the other drivers fault. Their company paid for a loaner, it was their policy to give you a comparable vehicle as opposed to my company giving you a daily allowance. You can exceed that daily allowance, but it’s on your dime.
I retire on Friday, but have a long road trip planned early in October that the C7 probably won’t be going on.
Glad you are o k. I hate when drivers tail gate me cuz our cars stop so much better than theirs. Add to that the "distracted" factor and I always look for a way out. I like the cop's answer "looks like a 2020" I assume he means a new C8 !!!

That's very sad that your roadtrip in October in the C7 won't happen. Dam.....just damm.....
Yah, the rental vehicle quandary of insurance and outs, is worthwhile to stay on top of. Many years ago like 1997.....I was slightly rear-ended in my Mercedes Benz motorcar. The opposing insurance company was State Farm (not that it matters) but the rental car time-out @ 30 days. Well, the Mercedes Benz dealer didn't get my Mercedes totally done for about 5 weeks. I was sweating whether State Farm would pay for the additional time the body shop repair required. They did. I called the opposing agent as the 30 days mark came, and he was good with the extension. Check that aspect out too.
No way that car's not going to make Carfax as an Accident car front & rear. Minor damage. That's the tragedy of getting whacked through no fault of your own.

The inspector is coming on Friday to assess the damage. Me and the shop owner are shaking our heads as the inspector came on Monday an hour before the C7 arrived, they obviously couldn’t wait, but now they can’t get back until Friday. The shop can’t touch it until the inspector shows up for obvious reasons, but me and the shop are on the same page with our forecast. I won’t say what that is until after the inspectors verdict.
I will say that under these circumstances, buying another car, no matter what make, as I enter the fixed income phase of life...isn’t something I would be looking forward to. But more candor here...I have done my homework on possible replacements if necessary. Prices on ‘19’s are really manageable, but then there’s the all season tire and extended warranty stuff I’ve already done.
We’ll see what it’s gonna be on Friday...
Stay tuned...
