I work at a Chevrolet dealership and can tell you with the strike GM isn't delivering any parts to it's dealers. That will be a real problem for you? Also when they come back from the strike you better hope the GM parts warehouse outside of Philly has in stock what you need to fix your car? GM put a new computer system in their main parts warehouse in Michigan and it is a disaster. We had one of our employees 2017 Corvette in our body shop for 2 months waiting for a right side headlamp. After making several calls to various people at GM we got one from the Corvette plant.
It would be a blessing for you if your car gets totaled. Another thing you could do is take the insurance money and sell the car to Contemporary Corvette outside of Philadelphia they buy wreck Corvettes and yours having a title and not a salvage one they would buy it in a minute
Sorry this happened to you, but I am glad that you are OK. Everything else will fix.
Your seat belt pre-tensioner went off. That's why DIC says airbag. It has to be changed. Some insurance companies treat this as an air-bag went off. Be careful communicating this with insurance. Might loose your car.

I feel for the OP at this point, getting parts for the repairs. My C7 has been at a body shop since last Monday for (self-inflicted) damage. At the end of last week I was pulling my hair out as the shop owner told me he could not get any parts (including a headlamp) due to the strike. However this Tuesday his parts guy came through with a fender and the fascia, with a promise of the headlamp 'on the way'. The OP's parts list will be a lot more extensive than mine though.
Got the estimate this evening. Never mind paint and labor, we’re talking 10K in parts. The exhaust being the big ticket item. There was no frame damage, the air bags didn’t go off. Throw in the GM strike, if it’s repaired, I’ll get my car back in about six weeks. I’ll talk to the body shop tomorrow.
I know the first instinct is total it. If that happens it’s 80-20 my Corvette days are done. As much as I enjoy the car, starting over again as I enter retirement (Saturday is my first full day) isn’t something that excites me.
Stay tuned...

Good luck, whatever your decision. If you do decide to have it repaired, one thing to consider is to suspend your collision coverage while the car is in the shop and save some money. Your insurance company should make it retroactive to the day after the accident. If you have a loan there may be a form the bank requires you to fill out spelling out why the car is not being driven, and for how long.
I was rear ended while stopped in my C7 coupe. The basket of the car (passenger section) separated from the rest of the car. No idea if the car helped or not. Plenty of neck surgery. However I’ve learned to love the headrests in the German cars that snug up close to or touch the back my head. Just saying!!

Reason: Error
there should be a millenial tax on young drivers =D kid in the ford clearly was most of the cause. hopefully all ends well. be sure to stretch, the back muscles are easily tweaked. thats nothing you wanna mess with..
The guy in the truck was clearly most of the cause. The vette stopped without hitting the ford because he gave himself enough time/room to stop in case he needed to, the truck obviously did not and that is what cause the collisions. The truck guy is going to be completely liable, as he should be.

Got my first look at the police report. The truck driver told two lies. According to the report I stopped suddenly, false. He also said he was blinded by sun glare. False again! My car is slowly but surely being repaired. My deductible has already been refunded.

The GM strike isn’t making things move faster, but the repairs are ongoing and I continue to drive my Honda rental. My 30 days will be up next week. The estimate said 37 days to repair, so there will be more for my insurance company to negotiate. After 32 days I am truly missing my car. Will probably get it back just before Thanksgiving. There were a couple of delays in getting the repair process started, but once those hurdles were removed I started to feel better about the entire process. I had scouted out a couple of 2019’s and was prepared to move if it was totaled, but it wasn’t. And while the thought of a new C7 was appealing, financing, wheels, warranties, etc, were not. Bottom line, I’m glad it’s being fixed. Lots of new parts so I guess it will become a 2016.5. My
Thats heart wrenching to see a vett in a accident. I fear the same and also will be devistated. I just hope that the camea's in the car will help tell the whole story. I always use the pdr and my thinkware dash cam.. I know yours did not have a pdr but maybe a dash came helps with a piece of mind. I surely hope it does get fixed so u can enjoy it once again.
I visited the Corvette Museum earlier this month. After seeing the sinkhole cars and crash test car...I’m encouraged about my outcome. Today marked five weeks...
They pulled these out of the hole and repaired the damage so it can be done....

I’m on week 9 of repairs, for a small incident in July. Teen failed to yield and flew into a traffic circle and struck my GS. What appeared to be a small amount of damage has run over $9,000 so far. GM strike is to blame for some of the delay, that’s why it has taken 9 weeks. First estimate from insurance was about 2k, but once they disassembled and found headlight mount broken and other damage underneath, the cost went up.
I think I’ll finally get the car back on Wednesday? They finally got the last part in on Friday that they were waiting on.
That's a gorgeous GS! Sorry about the cracks and scratches. Nine weeks...I know you miss your C7 and will be even more careful (not that you haven't been already) when you get it repaired. It's amazing how one moment of indiscretion or inattention can stop or disrupt all of our good intentions and precautions.
As a Jersey boy I understand driving in the Gahden State and I have been rear ended (ready), not once, not twice but SIX times, twice in two different Vettes. My point? I caution you to follow up with your primary care physician after a few weeks to a month. It takes time for any real symptoms (if any) to show up.
One of my rear enders felt not too bad but I ended up having my neck fused. I'm not trying to startle you or raise undue concerns but such collisions involving the back/neck need to be monitored. Good luck.

Similar situation happened to me. when I was in a que stopped at a red light. The problem was the driver that hit me only had $25K in property damage insurance which was not enough for all the damage. My insurance company had to go to court and until it was resolved I had to get my car fixed by using my collision insurance

Sorry you were injured. A native New Yorker, I’ve called New Jersey home for the last 27 years. I rear ended a Nissan Pathfinder, stopped in the ez-pass lane with no brake lights, and now I guess the “favor” has been returned 15 years later. Physically I am fine. Because of other issues I am in frequent of not constant contact with my doctors. Recently had my physical and all is well. But trust me, if something was wrong, I would shut it down.
Now I’m just looking forward to getting my car back before the first snow... Thanks for your concern.
