Default Chickened out....

Changed my OEM battery though car still started instantly and never hesitated..... battery had 62 months on it - 91,000 miles and was never on a charger. Since I was going to leave it for a week at the airport I decided for peace of mind I'd change it. I replaced it with an OEM battery - as I have done with my previous five Corvettes - 800,000 miles and climbing.....

WHAT!? And miss the opportunity to call roadside service at 10PM in a rainy, dark airport parking lot!?

That battery served you well. Hope the replacement does just as good.

Wise man, at 60 months it's about time to start considering a new battery.

You may have just gotten rid of one of the few truly good OEMs... if it had gone that long without symptoms, who knows how long it might have gone?

The best OEM I ever had went 11 years when the vehicle was totaled. The original in my daily driven C5 was the worst... barely two years.

Good move! Best I've ever gotten is 5 1/2 years on my Corvettes.

I routinely get eight plus years out of car batteries. I have yet to have any battery suddenly die without warning.

With 62 months on an OEM in a C7 it was soon to die a death.... I wasn't interested in coming back to DFW airport at rush hour or _________ and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for AAA to come to my rescue....

I have no luck with batteries, they all prematurely die on me.

Nice.
Its amazing how reliable cars are when an owner is sensibly proactive with maintenance.

It's my 3rd Corvette and I've owned over 30 cars in my life and never once replaced a battery that wasn't in need of replacing just because I felt like it was time. Never heard of anyone else doing that either.

I've never had a battery just suddenly fail without warning. If OP was worried, jumper cables are a lot cheaper for peace of mind.

Do you think batteries last forever ?
Its a fair question considering what you posted.

Of course not. But I just don't arbitrarily swap them out because I decide it's about time to do so.

Did you ever own a C6?, and if you did, how long did you own it?

How long have you owned your C7?

No.

Less than 1 year.

Are Corvettes known for sudden battery failure? I'm unaware of this. Even if I was I still wouldn't replace the battery until that happened.

Well that's really the issue isn't it.
Some folks think waiting until failure actually occurs, is a bad idea.
