most of them ARE unskilled. You think it takes skill to bolt things down? They perform these repeated actions by rote. I'd say the engine crew actually need knowledge/skill but the guys putting in the seats, putting on the fenders, putting in the glass.. High school kids could build most of that car no problem at all.

At worst odd jal, hardly paranoid.
I have a paid-off Corvette, not in market for C8 or any other GM product at this time so no skin in the game.
Still, who wields more influence w/ GM corporate suits re labor grievances. Marketing. Sales.
Potential P/U shoppers, Cruz buyers?
Or < .5% waiting for a special new generation greatly anticipated flagship car they placed deposits on weeks/months ago?
Could UAW leadership have recognized an ideal, albeit unforeseen @ old contract signing, opportunity to apply a LOT more leverage 'bargaining' for everything A to Z?
Plausible, not paranoid.

UAW could've settled all their issues w/o a strike, jal.
UAW w/couldn't resist a chance golden opportunity, and they didn't.

@phalse

Only ones who have it better than that are the military, and they actually deserve it =D

You sir or madam are totally out of line with this comment. Shut up or sign up!
You obviously have not stepped to the line and raised your right hand and have no idea what it is like to live on the wages they make or endure the hardships those folks and their families have made for you!.

...what the hell is wrong with you? You completely read that all wrong. Like way off. I even said the military "actually deserve" the healthcare benefits they get.

don't drink and post.

moving along.. Many uaw line workers are overpaid for the work they do. That said, I'd like to see them, just like anyone, getting all their check boxes checkmarked, we all have needs eh. Healthcare should be a non issue when working for such a large company. But it seems to me that they forget how good they have it.

Not even plausible but certainly every conspiracy theory, no matter how ridiculous, starts with a smidgen of truth. In this case, yes there is a new Corvette coming that maybe 30,000 or so people will take delivery on next year. That 30,000 pales in comparison to the more than 800,000 truck buyers next year that are far far more important.

Arguing about union pro or con belongs in Off Topic, not here.
