Next you will see the price-hike announcement to pay for the agreement.
Price hikes are only due to tariffs, at least that's what they claim on quarterly calls. I'm not a genius, but my bullshit meter says GM's nearly 60% price hike on the Tahoe since 08 might have outpaced inflation just slightly. Between 08 and 2015 the Fed lost sleep over deflation, since 15, its praying to get to 2%. Bloodsuckers in suite C, bloodsuckers on the factory floor.
Maybe GM will adapt the Wal-Mart Labor Model: 30+ clerk checkout stations, only 2 open during the day. After 10pm every customer bags their own.
In the GM adaptation you go to the dealer and sign up for the day you show up at the factory to build your own car under the watchful eyes of the 2 experienced GM employees on duty.
The warranty claims from shoddy assembly and lax quality control should be fun to watch.

Will be interesting to hear just what this proposed agreement is all about and what this means for the consumer.
It means the UAW will announce they won a big increase from GM and in a month or so GM will announce they're building new plants in China, Mexico and India to build EVs. Then they'll shutter the ICE plants in the US. And the UAW leadership will wonder what happened.
Why do we constantly attack the working man here? Did you know that GM posted a 2.2 billion dollar profit in the first quarter of 2019?
And have we lost sight that is what companies are supposed to do? (hint: make profit) First and foremost they owe the stock holders first.......I have been through a few car plants over the years. Today most everything is done by robotics, where as years ago the line worker had to possess some real skills to build a car properly. Are the workers valuable? Absolutely, but we need to all realize why this nation has lost so many industries to the far east. Too high of labor rate demands. Steel, auto, garment, electronics, etc, etc, moved their assembly labor overseas for cheaper labor rates. We need to figure out ways to bring industry back, but over demanding wages is not the way. $15 minimum wage? While it sounds nifty take a look at what is going on all over retail. Self service checkout, McDonalds ordering kiosks, etc. If $15 min is passed, do we think self service will expand or go away? Some may make more $$$ up front, but many more will lose their jobs...again, companies are in business to make profit and with wages typically around 65% of operating costs, where is the first place to cut?
In the end, for my love of the Corvette, I am glad it is settled.......lets get building Corvettes again!!!!!

I hate to be that guy, but these schmoes making 30 an hour to fasten bolts or slap the bumper on etc etc are overpaid. It's weakness on the part of GM to let the union walk all over them. Some aspects of building the car take real skill and knowledge but we've all seen endless footage of the assembly lines and the majority is brainless repetitive **** that high school kids could do.
30 an hour for that? **** off. Way over 80 percent of things like health care, paid for, by GM? Only ones who have it better than that are the military, and they actually deserve it =D
Strike's timing is just that.
Happened to coincide w/ introduction of the greatly anticipated C8?
Funny, that.
UAW is screwing itself, again, unbeknownst to their membership who're always the last to know.
So you are saying that the contract expiring was decided to correspond with the C8 introduction years ago? A vehicle that represents less than one-half of one percent of production. Somehow might that be paranoia?
