Bought a replacement battery from Walmart, of all places, for my 2016 C7 Stingray. Got a Platinum EverStart AGM, 760 CCA with a 5 year fully replaceable warranty for a bargain price of $149.99.
So far got everything disconnected except having trouble removing fuse block mounted on top of dead battery. Why am I having trouble? Any suggestions or hints.
Got frustrated so I’m taking a break with a glass of wine.
Thanks!
Doing it myself since dealer does not stock AGM battery which is what I want. Besides dealer wants $159.99 plus $55 installation on the OEM battery which didn’t even last 3 years.
Good luck - I chose to just have the dealer replace the battery in my car. Didn’t want to mess with it.
That's the route I took. I also nixed an aftermarket battery because I wanted to be sure it had proper ventilation. Spent a few bucks more and got the 42 month AC Delco battery.
Last May, I replaced the battery in my 2016 Stingray Z51 Coupe. I replaced the OEM battery with an Odyssey 48-720T. Over the years, I replaced a lot of batteries when I worked for a Pontiac dealer as a teenager. Getting the Stingray Z51 battery out was an experience, unlike anything I ever did. Does GM have a tool for lifting this heavy dude out? It took everything I had to grasp and lift the battery!
After a year the Odyssey battery suddenly won't recharge. Any advice for its removal?

I got a battery strap from the local auto parts store.

I have a tool for carrying a battery. Connects to battery posts. Most new batteries have a handle now days. I had mine for 40 years.
Maybe it's my age but trying to lift and then a 50 to 75-pound battery 2 to 3 feet is probably a steep hill to climb!
I used a rubber strap with post clamps and if you backed off on the lift pressure the battery would fall. I just saw a Lang Tools Heavy-Duty Battery Carrier, on Amazon, that probably gives you a little better leverage. However, it grasps the battery on the sides.
I suggest you view this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RlnDbsuvZk
And protect your back when you lift the battery up and out! If you have a bad back I would suggest having someone else do it. And good luck.
