Go with what you like, your car. But personally I prefer keeping my GS just as Bowling Green built it.
I would ask myself, if the change is an improvement or more a change for the sake of change.

I’m leaving mine on the car, but that is just my choice as I like the emblems. As has been said, you can take them off and put them back on later if you decide you did like the original look.
Given the vast majority of debadged cars I see of any make are the lowest level of performance and trim, I will assume any debadged Corvette is similarly a base model. If what I think matters.
My car has the carbon flash heritage package.... the black badges, spoiler, splitter, side skirts outside mirrors, cross flags, grill, Corvette Letters help to define the car against the Torch red. So for me the chrome accents were not a consideration. The Carbon flash is slightly unique to all the C7 with the chrome accents.
That's the first mod to my black '18 five minutes after getting it home from Kerbeck's (and, mine were the $100 extra in black), that right before removing the "CORVETTE" text from the rear. The stylized "guitars" (GM's idea of stingrays) were a big hit with my little granddaughter who painted them purple with blue and pink polka-dots before adding googly-eyes! They looked great like that!!!
