Any one that you can still book a room at. And, I'm not kidding. We booked in November at the new Sleep Inn and they were nearly sold out. Holiday Inn, Microtel, there are some good ones. The Super 8s are pretty old in the area, and they bump the prices up anyways for that weekend. Good luck!
Might be better off posting this in national events, Some times its not a matter of what is the best hotel, its a matter of what one can I get into , Good Luck , Just remember the majority of the local hotels are $69.00 trucker hotels ,that become $300.00 a night Corvettes of Carlilse hotels in the last week of august ,same rooms, same dirty moldy ,smells like a cigar bar room just a different price
You better book soon...Im not kidding. They may be already sold out... Here is a list of hotels closest to the fairgrounds...scroll down to see the list:
I’ve always stayed in Mechanicsburg which is 15-20 mins away from the event. Good selection of Marriott properties, eg, Towneplace Suites Harrisburg West and a Fairfield Inn right across from it. Also a Courtyard Marriott about 1/2 mile away. These run from 130-250 range depending and have plenty of availability.
Used to live in Frederick, Maryland, about 65 miles from Carlisle. Lots of places to stay and lots to see in Frederick especially in the historic district. Many presidents and their wives have shopped there. It is also about 45 miles from D.C. and 45 miles from Baltimore. Monocacy Battlefield and South Mountain Battlefield are there and there are many other battlefields within an hour's drive..

Anyplace you would want to stay in the immediate Carlisle area is most likely filled. The rest and remainder majority of Carlisle Hotel/Motels are miserable sh*tholes, and I'm being kind. Mechanicsburg is your best bet. Very nice hotels at reasonable prices as mentioned above.
^^^ you are too kind. We were early for our reservation one yr, had no choice but to spend one night at a hotel “hotel by name only, a shithole really”. My wife and I were debating sleeping in our Tahoe.
On the drive home, my wife books for the following year. We stay at the Hampton Inn Harrisburg West. Large lot, great for trailer parking.
I used to live in Camp Hill, Pa. that HI is a nice property and one that we use when we go back to visit family. It is about a 20 minute ride to Carlisle from there. If it’s still available, I would jump on it

I live in Frederick and daily drive to Carlisle for the event. A lot of great hotels, excellent restaurants and historical sites to see here. Take 15N from Frederick to 94 then 34 to fairgrounds - fun stretches of road.
