I used Mobil 1 ATF fluid. In QuickJack’s official setup video, they use Valvoline Automatic Transmission Fluid.

My opinion: ATF is of course for transmission use and requires certain properties especially related to transmission requirements.

Besides defeating oxidation, ATF must also be non-foaming and must not deform the seals in the transmission or react with the various metals inside the housing.

It must also allow for the clutch friction surfaces to engage without undue slippage. To achieve these requirements, manufacturers use chemical additives that make each ATF formulation unique.

The additive package also includes viscosity modifiers to keep the fluid from thinning at high temperatures and friction modifiers that smooth shifting. Most of those things your Quickjack could care less about.

Where as Hydraulic oil is for use in Hydraulic systems (hydraulic rams/cylinders like on our Quickjacks). So which is better, AW32 or AW46 or AW68? (ISO and AW are interchangeable)

The short answer is that neither is better or worse. Ultimately, there are several factors to consider in determining which is the better option for your lift.

Oil is rated and identified by its viscosity, which determines its ability to flow at different temperatures. AW means Anti-Wear.

The lower the number, the thinner the oil and the more easily it flows. AW-32 is neither better nor worse than AW-46. The numbers refer only to the viscosity, not to the quality. Quality of the oil is determined by the manufacturer.

AW-32 (lower number than AW-46) will flow better in colder weather than AW-46 or AW-68. In colder climates with unheated garages you may want to use AW-32. In warmer climates you may want to use either AW-46 or AW-68.

Most hydraulic system Mfg's do not recommend the use of transmission fluid because its thinner viscosity (5W) can allow the oil to weep around hydraulic connections/cylinder seals and transmission fluid may also reduce the life expectancy of the pump seals.

Likely the cause of leaky connections some guys on here are reporting.

Final Verdict for me (being the technical nerd I am) , I'll be using AW-46 because I live in a relatively warm climate and I believe in the right tool for the right job. To me that means using hydraulic oil in my hydraulic cylinders. JMO.

It may or may not operate a little more slowly with Hydraulic oil verses ATF....but I'm not in that big a hurry.

Yeah good catch, that was an older pic. I think I've only done that twice accidentally. The fear of losing an arm when i went to unlock them has stopped me from mixing them up anymore

Thanks, cdominquez, for the link, and thank you, zOso for your advise and explanation. I'll buy the hydraulic fluid.

What was the turn around time from placing the order to getting a shipping notification?

Man, me and these bad boys are going to get intimate in the coming weeks.

They just hit my doorstep an hour ago. Very nicely packaged and Fedex did a Great job getting them half way across the country undamaged and in pristine condition.

What a difference to how mine arrived (posted about it last week and the consensus was I was overreacting. they definitely sent me an old refurbished one).

Moral to anyone that wants to listen, don't use the $100 off coupon unless it's off the full price.

Are you all still using the jacking pucks with the quick jack blocks? I used it that way last night with no issues but I did notice the jacking puck sat on the block a bit weird due to the jacking puck pressing on the lifting block.

Yes I am using the pucks and the blocks , dont want to take a chance on the block cracking the glass if it's not positioned 100 percent correct
if you use the pucks you can easily center the block and there is not any chance of damaging the rocker

I still use both. I got the 5000ext and it has about half of the block under the pucks on each side. Works great and the pucks keep me from messing up anything else. Been doing it like that from day one with no issues.

My QuickJack came in today... Zero issues with the product or packing. Wish I knew it didn't come with the fluid needed. No Biggie... Trip to Walmart tomorrow for some trans fluid.

Assembly and testing to come...

I finally got around to unboxing mine as well. Also ordered the SUV adapters. Knew I would need Hydraulic fluid but didn't realize I needed to charge it with compressed air. Have wanted to get an air compressor too so I pulled the trigger on a small California Air Unit with aluminum tank. That should be here Wednesday. Garage starting to take shape.

I have the SUV adapters and used them on a Jeep JL. While the QJ lifts and holds the Vette and Camaro very steady I'm a little nervous on the jeep with the suv adapters. It seemed to move a little more than I liked. For the brake job and tire rotation it was perfect.

The unit I purchased was a refurb and the only difference I see is that it did not come on a sheet of plywood backing, just the box itself. Haven't gotten it up and running yet but so far it looks good.

I store mine very similar. I bought the actual QJ hooks. They’re extremely heavy duty.

Got my Quickjack and will be putting it together today.. Just wondering on the lift points. I'm assuming that I would place the lift to match my lift pucks?

First job for my lift will be doing a complete brake upgrade on my c3. Parts on the way........

Coincidently, I ordered on Saturday and will be here tomorrow. Stoked to get the GS in the air and clean me some wheels and change the brake pads to alleviate the gobs of dust. Saw my first QuickJack in Vegas last year at the LS Fest. Been interested since and finally pulled the trigger.
