Besides defeating oxidation, ATF must also be non-foaming and must not deform the seals in the transmission or react with the various metals inside the housing.
It must also allow for the clutch friction surfaces to engage without undue slippage. To achieve these requirements, manufacturers use chemical additives that make each ATF formulation unique.
The additive package also includes viscosity modifiers to keep the fluid from thinning at high temperatures and friction modifiers that smooth shifting. Most of those things your Quickjack could care less about.
Where as Hydraulic oil is for use in Hydraulic systems (hydraulic rams/cylinders like on our Quickjacks). So which is better, AW32 or AW46 or AW68? (ISO and AW are interchangeable)
The short answer is that neither is better or worse. Ultimately, there are several factors to consider in determining which is the better option for your lift.
Oil is rated and identified by its viscosity, which determines its ability to flow at different temperatures. AW means Anti-Wear.
The lower the number, the thinner the oil and the more easily it flows. AW-32 is neither better nor worse than AW-46. The numbers refer only to the viscosity, not to the quality. Quality of the oil is determined by the manufacturer.
AW-32 (lower number than AW-46) will flow better in colder weather than AW-46 or AW-68. In colder climates with unheated garages you may want to use AW-32. In warmer climates you may want to use either AW-46 or AW-68.
Most hydraulic system Mfg's do not recommend the use of transmission fluid because its thinner viscosity (5W) can allow the oil to weep around hydraulic connections/cylinder seals and transmission fluid may also reduce the life expectancy of the pump seals.
Likely the cause of leaky connections some guys on here are reporting.
Final Verdict for me (being the technical nerd I am) , I'll be using AW-46 because I live in a relatively warm climate and I believe in the right tool for the right job. To me that means using hydraulic oil in my hydraulic cylinders. JMO.
It may or may not operate a little more slowly with Hydraulic oil verses ATF....but I'm not in that big a hurry.

Ordered mine on a Sat 12-28 (closed)...Monday 12-30 would be 1st work day after order. Shipped Tues 12-31....Wed was Jan 1 (hoilday), I got it Monday 1-6.....so shipped second work day after order placed and 6 days (1 of them a holiday) in Fedex shipping.
I didn't mind the long Fedex shipping since it got here in prefect condition.
Oh, then there's the install of the ACS Stage 2 Splitter I got for Xmas....oh, and Z06 Side Skirts down the road someday... oh, and the frequent oil changes...the list seems endless...lol.
Man, me and these bad boys are going to get intimate in the coming weeks.
They just hit my doorstep an hour ago. Very nicely packaged and Fedex did a Great job getting them half way across the country undamaged and in pristine condition.
Moral to anyone that wants to listen, don't use the $100 off coupon unless it's off the full price.

First job for my lift will be doing a complete brake upgrade on my c3. Parts on the way........
